Default Control Surface question...

A friend of mine posed this question to me.

Is there a defined set of midi controls that external contol surfaces use to control Reapers various features?

There is a PARIS user who can build a little black box that would allow my C16 control surface to control some features in REAPER...he just needs to know what to port to where... anyone?

You can map any CC to any reaper function through the "Actions" list. Is that what you're looking for?

To clarify things this is a control surface specific to Paris

It has 16 faders with mute / solo / record enable on each track as well as transport controls, marker inserts, loop inserts, a jog wheel, EQ controls etc. and what I would like to do is use this control surface to control Reaper.

I have a fellow Paris user who has built an interface that converts the Paris Control Surface info to midi info and I was wondering if I can access Reaper's functions via this midi info?

Now my friend can apparently assign the Paris control surface commands to specific midi commands thereby making the PARIS control surface a Reaper specific control surface.

So if Reaper can be controlled by midi commands I would like to know what the midi commands are for various actions in Reaper

thanks

Don

the guy with Paris

Check out section 13 (page 245?) of the user guide - its all in the action shortcut. You simply use a MIDI note or CC from your control surface assigned to an action.
Make sure you enable the surface for CONTROL in MIDI devices.
