Default is spectrum analyzer same as EQ but also for longer period of time

is spectrum analyzer same as EQ but also able to show averages for longer periods of time?

Not quite.
A specan measures amplitude of frequency variation.
EQ is what you use to increase/decrease frequency amplitude.

If you had a flat signal source (in audio terms) followed by an EQ and then the Specan you would see any changes you made with EQ on the Specan.

A spectrum analyzer measures the frequency content without changing the sound.


An equalizer alters the frequency content without measuring or displaying it.

Some Plugin eq's show a graph which shows the current signal
and also as you make the changes these you can sight as well.
Some also have a bypass button so you can hear the the result of your eq changes and the original sound as you press the button on and off.
