Default is there a a reason to use 3rd party delay?

Given sylenth1 as below

would there be a reason to use a third party delay for a synth sound of Sylenth1?

if so why?

For a Delay effect, I'd lean towards it being unnecessary to use an external plugin if your synth has delay built in, unless you just really like the sound of your 3rd party delay, or the builtin effect's parameters don't go far enough for what you want. I have a handful of delays that add various forms of coloring and/or additional effects that I may use instead of a synth's builtin delay. Might also save some processing power using the builtin effect, though most likely not enough to matter unless your system is very bare-bones or starting to show its age.

thank you,

so for example if i needed ONLY the delays to be distorted, would this build in synth be able to produce it or do i need to use external fx for that

Another reason may be that you want to have the same delay on multiple synthesizers when you're layering your sounds. Especially if you're using different synths which have different sounding delays.

It's most common to do that for the reverb, but it can also be nice with delay.

if you want to add (external) distortion this will come after the internal delay, so in this case i would use an external delay.
