Default MIDI Input Disconnects USB

Hi!

I've setup a KAT KT-3 electronic drum kit to record MIDI from each of it's triggers into Reaper, each trigger to its own channel, snare to track 1, kick to track 2 etc. Using the MIDI note filter and MIDI Inspector plugins on each input.

I have MT Power Drum Kit as the VSTi for the drum sounds.

I have all the triggers working & recording fine, but as soon as I hit the Hi-Hat trigger, it seems like the USB connection stops, and none of the channels are pickup MIDI input.

If I close Reaper and reconnect to USB, I have drums again... Until I trigger the Hi-Hat.

I've changed the USB cable, but that didn't solve the issue, and the Hi-Hat pad is triggering normally with the drum module. I've even swopped the Hi-hat drum module input to a different pad to rule out the pad itself.

I've set the USB power settings in Windows to always-on as well.

I suspect this is probably a PC issue, but I would like to check if anyone may have encountered this before or if anyone has any further advise or a idea as to what is causing this issue?
