I tried different methods of controlling the Sigma - directly via MIDI (didnt' work), directly from the UF8 Midi-Ports (worked only one way - plugin didn't control the surface, but the surface controlled the plugin) and lastly via DrivenByMoss.
Your extension really saved the day for me!

I am afraid the answer is no since the implementation always follows the first selected track.

Hello Jürgen,
I work flawlessly with version 11.6.0, however if i want to update to 11.7.3 i get the message according to the immage. When I roll back to 11.6.0 it works perfect again. Do You have any suggestion?
Thanks,
Pieter

Check that you removed the old files, then check that the downloaded ZIP is intact.

Hi Jürgen,
I have been away form the forums for a while. I have been using Reaper 4.62 for a few years as I got it really stable. I was trying to avoid the temptation to upgrade! A little while ago I got a Kontrol S49 mk1 which is a great little keyboard. I was happy with the Komplete Kontrol integration and standard midi, but I just wondered if anyone on here might have done anything with it. I popped my head in the forum and was blown away with some of the new stuff - plugins and scripts. I am now in the process of upgrading to Reaper 6. Then I found your driver and installed it. It worked first time.
It is really amazing - thank you.
Nandy.

Hi Jürgen!
I came across a problem with the UF8, running in Mackie Mode:
The automation mode can’t be changed into Trim/Read from any other mode.
Also ignores switching directly from Reaper.
I saw you fixed this for Push about a year ago - any chance this could be done?
Or maybe I’m missing something in the config?
Thanks for this killer software!
Frank

Please forgive the "noob" questions about setting up DrivenByMoss 4 Reaper with a Behringer X-Touch Universal Controller. This will be my first control surface.
I found a video by Jürgen for the X-Touch One (single fader). That showed me that I would select "MCU - Control Universal" in DBM4R, but I think there are a number of differences in setting up the multi-fader X-Touch.
Does anyone know of a video tutorial specifically for DriveByMoss 4 Reaper with the X-Touch Universal Controller...or maybe someone who is using DBM4R with this X-Touch model can share your experience? Things like set up, mapping actions to unassigned buttons (or changing an action for a button), navigating through large track count projects, and so on.
I use folders a lot, and I also use both scripts and cycle actions to just show a specific folder (and hide everything else), for example, when I just want to focus on the drum tracks. Can these kinds of things work with DBM4R and the X-Touch?

Hi Frank,
I just tested with my iCon and it works fine. Since I do not have the UF8 I cannot test that but I guess it uses the wrong MCU command?!

I do not have the X-Touch so you will not find a video from me. In general simply activate the features it provides under the hardware setup (e.g. 1 display, motor faders, ...). Also check the included manual for a documentation of the settings (section 12.6.1).
MCU does not support folder navigation or the concept of folders. Therefore, all channels are always flat.

Is there a way I could read-out the MCU command it uses?
It seems like „Read“ is the standard automation on the UF8.
It works with my small Faderport and also with the UF8 via CSI.
Currently I‘m back and forth between CSI and DrivenByMoss for the UF8, hope to get it working one way or the other.
Best,
Frank

FWIW - Klinke's MCU csurf plugin supports folders in REAPER.
https://bitbucket.org/Klinkenstecker...mcu/downloads/
I use it with my Behringer X32 console in daw mode MCU.
See documentation in that download.
However, I don't believe I have used DBM4R at the same time... as Klinke.

Thanks for the link. Jürgen said that DBM4R does not include folder support in Reaper. Reading some of the Klinke manual, it appears that a folder mode has been added, which pretty much makes the decision a little easier for me...except that I believe that DBN4R is still being actively updated, whereas I think I read that Klinke is not being updated anymore (is that true?).
On the Klinke download page, reaper_csurf_mcu_klinke_v0_6_4.zip (2014), and another, reaper_csurf_mcu_klinke.zip (2016) are listed. I assume that I should download and install the most recent (2016) one, right? However, the user manual refers to a v0.8.3. Is the version 8 the most recent, and is it part of the zip file dated 2016?
I just want to make sure that I download the correct file.
thanks.

Thanks for pointing me to the Klinke documentation and how it is implemented there. Sure, such as workaround is possible, I didn't implement it so far since on MCU devices you might get lost pretty easy but I see the added value at least for top level groups. Shouldn't be too hard to do since I have this code already for the Push implementation.
Will put it on the wishlist.

I was discussing the Folder Mode with Klinke in another thread. I explained that I have created several custom/cycle actions in Reaper. Each action shows ONLY the folder tracks (parent and children) with a specific name, and hides the rest. So, when I run the "Drums" action, only the drums folder tracks are shown. And since these actions are "toggles", the second run returns to showing ALL tracks.
Klinke has a "Show" option that works perfectly for this, dedicating the faders, pans, etc. on the X-Touch to only the tracks that are showing. However, Klinke pointed out that for this to work, Folder Mode would need to be set to "flat" (which I took to mean that since I have an action setup of each folder that I use, I wouldn't need to use the "Folder Mode" at all.
Does DrivenByMoss have something similar to this "Show" option? If so, would I be able to map eight of these "show folder actions" to the F1 through F8 buttons on the X-Touch (and would they work as toggles)?
THANKS!

Not sure if I got you: you mean something like assigning to jump to a specific folder on a button press and then showing the sub-tracks?

From my understanding in our discussion, he needs a feature that filter the available tracks on the X-Touch, so that only the tracks which are shown in the Mixer are also mapped to the X-Touch.
Thank you for your great work btw.

Yes, thanks for explaining it. There are a large number of Reaper users who have relatively large track counts in their projects, and they/we use varying methods to ONLY show certain tracks at a time, while hiding others. Many folks do this with custom and/or cycle actions, assign them to toolbar buttons, and can click to show only specified tracks. This is generally done with folders...click the "DRUMS" action toolbar button, and ONLY the Drums Folder (parent and children) are shown.
There is even a script that essentially automates the entire process...run the script and it creates a toolbar with buttons for each folder in your project. You can even select more than one folder to see at the same time. For example, click the Drums button, then click the Bass button, and you have ONLY the Drums and Bass folders in the mixer panel and/or track panel.
Some people do this by creating Track Views (in Screensets). They will use Track Manager to hide all, but the tracks they want to see, and save it as a Track View. Do this for up to the ten available track view slots, and you have up to ten different "custom views" of any combination of tracks...all just a click away. In this case, Track Views are project-specific, and would have to be redone for each new project. The other action/script-based options can be used in all projects (for the most part).
My "beginner" questions have been based on being able to map these toolbar buttons/actions to the F1 through F8 buttons on the X-Touch, and be able to have the X-Touch (faders, pans, etc.) access just the SHOWN folder tracks. Then, be able to press a button (Global View?) to go back to showing ALL tracks, returning the X-Touch to have access to ALL tracks.
As Klinke has so patiently answered my many questions, I believe the "Show" option will handle this...at least I think so.
I hope I have explained this well enough. I'm sure this is something that would be of interest to many control surface users with Reaper.
And a HUGE THANK YOU to both of you for all your work on this, and equally as important, your continued communication that is so helpful to all of us.
Again, as a relative beginner, who is not ready to dive into CSI customization, both the Klinke and DrivenByMoss extensions are AMAZING.

Thanks for the explanations!
And great to see Klinke chiming in! Klinke is not using Klinke anymore? ;-)
As I wrote before, I will look into navigating the hierarchy, which should be too difficult. Having shortcuts for specific folders is an interesting idea but this needs some thought.

No, i still using Klinke ;-) And I am even working on a new version, for which your QCon ProX code for the second display was very helpful, since I had no specification for it.
But that doesn't change the fact that you do great work for the Reaper community.

On open Error
I have a problem with the DrivenByMoss configuration...
I deleted all the previous version of the script in every folder but I can't fix it.
The ReaScript console errore is:
drivenbymoss: ERROR: Could not register native functionsjava.lang.NoSuchMethodError: Method de.mossgrabers.reaper.ui.MainFrame.processNoArg(Lj ava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String V name or signature does not match
How can I fix it?

Gentlemen, I have a question about using an X-Touch (or any controller, I suppose) to navigate through a project. I use the Reaper scroll bar to do this all the time, and someone mentioned to me recently that the X-Touch does not have a way to use the Reaper scroll function. I know it has a scroll/jog wheel on it, so this caught me by surprise. Is this true? And if so, does the Klinke and/or Moss extension have a way to use the scroll wheel to control the scroll bar?
The other navigation method i use is (of course) markers and regions. However, while I may know that I want to jump to Verse 5, I don't necessarily know which marker number it is. I have started to use Reaper's Marker and Region Manager to bring up a list of all markers and regions, so I can easily click on the Verse 5 marker to jump there. The X-Touch does have a Marker button. Can this button be mapped with say a Ctrl or Opt modifier to open the Marker and Region Manager window...or is this a non-mapable button?

As Klinke answered in his thread, same is true for DrivenByMoss: with the Jog-Wheel you can control the play cursor as well as zoomin in-/out.

With DrivenByMoss the Marker button calls up the Marker mode. In Marker mode you can see the names of your markers in the display. By pressing the V-Pot below you can jump to that marker.
You can also assign any Reaper action to F1-F6 buttons in the settings.

Thanks again for clarifying this. I guess I'm getting a bit confused between the features of yours and Klinke's extensions.
On the X-Touch Universal, the transport buttons (specifically "Rewind") is directly below the "Marker" button. Which v-pot are you referring to? I assume you spin/turn the knob to navigate to the specific marker name you want, then press the knob to select and jump there (is that correct)?
One main issue I have with the X-Touch is the ability (or lack there of) to custom map Reaper actions to buttons. Unless I'm misunderstanding him, Klinke tells me the only buttons you can map to actions are the 8 buttons to the right of "Global Mode" ("Midi Tracks" through "User").
I'm not sure how this compares to DrivenByMoss. With your extension, are there also only certain/specific buttons that can be mapped to Reaper actions? I've read some other posts about iMap, but I don't know what that is...other than the name makes me think it's for Mac users only (I'm a Windows PC user). You had mentioned being able to map the F1 through F6 buttons. Are the F7 and F8 buttons not assignable?
My other main issue is the ability for the X-Touch faders and other channel controls to be assigned to ONLY the tracks that are SHOWING...this goes back to an earlier post regarding the Klinke "Show" option (and Folder Mode, to a certain extent), in which a Reaper action shows only a certain group of tracks, and hides the rest. Just to confirm, DrivenByMoss has no such feature that assigns channel controls to ONLY the tracks that are shown...is that right?

Glibc version support (or maybe linking statically?)
Hi!
I'd like to try drivenbymoss4reaper on ubuntu 18.04, but when starting reaper the extension says that it can't find Glibc 2.29 - which it can't since ubuntu 18.04 ships with version 2.27.
If I understand the issue correctly, statically linking glibc would resolve the issue, or compiling with the available version.
Is there a way for you to put the code of dbm4r on github or statically link glibc?
If I can help in any way, I will gladly!
All the best, Martin
P.s.: Thanks for putting in all this effort and hard work, you rock!

Behringer x-Touch track display colors
Is there a way to get the track display on the X-Touch to match the tracks in reaper?

Track 1 shows Marker 1, ... Track 8 shows Marker 8. Pressing the V-Pot (this is the knob) of the track selects the marker.

I only have the X-Touch One but I guess it is the same for the larger model. You can select an MCU User mode which allows you to exchange the MCU command the button sends to Reaper. Which means you can exchange commands on the device itself.
The DrivenByMoss manual explains in detail which MCU commands trigger which function Reaper.
F7 and F8 are fixed to punch in and out (again please check the manual).

No. What you can do is hide tracks by locking them. As I wrote before, hierarchical navigation is on my TODO list.

Thank you. With regard to the v-pot selection of markers 1 through 8, I was under the impression that Function buttons F1 through F8 performed that function...thanks for correcting me.
If, as you mentioned, I select MCU User mode (I assume this is an option on the X-Touch itself), are you saying that ANY button on the X-Touch can have a different function by exchanging commands? I assume this is different/separate from the ability to midi map Reaper actions, which can only be done for a specific few buttons.
I will download the zip file today, and read through the manual. Since DrivenByMoss and Klinke do different things, I am sure I will try them both. After I install your extension, when I decide to try Klinke later, should I delete your extension BEFORE installing Klinke...or can both sets of files reside in Reaper at the same time?

There is no need to remove an extension, I have also installed DBM and CSI beside my own extension.

Thank you...I was hoping that was the case. I assume that having both extensions installed (both sets of unzipped files/folders) in the Reaper "User Pluggins" folder at the same time would allow me to simply go through the proper setup process in Reaper preferences when wanting to switch from one extension to the other.
I can't thank both of you enough. You have done such great work on these extensions, and you've both been so kind and patient, taking time to explain things and answer questions.
I have now downloaded both manuals, and will be digging in. Of course, there's always a chance (in my case, a good chance) that my reading your manuals may bring up more questions...
Gentlemen, please take care and stay safe!

I looked into this. The bad news is that compiling statically is not an option since this would only make it work with that specific version.
I currently do not intend to publish the C++ part of the source since this is pretty complicated stuff which I do not have the time to support in any way.

Hello
I found a way to "tweak" the default driven by moss functionality, to use reaper actions with it, and add even more functions to the existing.
my method is to route my controller (whitch is a Maschine mikro mk3) into Bome MIDI translator pro before it gets into reaper and moss
and route the midi messages into seprate midi ports
Reaper get midi informations from bome translator 1 port and it can controll actions, and ReaLearn presets.
and Driven by moss gets bome translator 2 port (instead of maschine)
so I can decide what messages moss will get from the controller, and I can replace the functions i don't like with custom actions (like the automation button goes into write mode rather than touch)
(the basic Driven by moss installation is independent and can be updated without any dificulities)
I was able to add a lot more function to the Maschine this way
There are some features:
https://youtu.be/D6RQ7MwALDA
Basically the knob and the slider put out different midi messages depending on what function you're curently in ( volume, swing, tempo, pitch.....)
and what modifier you're holding down.
(the Recent projects, favorites, Browser (or both the recent projects and the favorites buttons))
That way you can select the top tracks, and toggle folder state with the encoder fader, tweak automation, items, fx parameters, regions... etc.
and i added some extra functionality like the drum mode:
In drum mode the pads are turn into fixed notes from C4 – D#5 so if you use it as a drum maschine you don’t have to search for the right pad layout.
Also if you use the included track preset “DRUM PADS” you can use the pads to open ADSR sample manager instances linked to the pads and even change the sample randomly
(for this you have to float the pad's vst every first time you inserted the preset into a project ... after that you can close the gui and don't have to open them ever again to change the sounds)
and Aftertouch mode:
In aftertouch mode every pad sends out the aftertouch messages for all notes to Bome midi port 3
With that if you set your track input to all midi inputs you’re able to play with a midi keyboard with one hand and press a pad to control the aftertouch value of all the notes. (or
use your toe )
There is the google drive link for the files with
installation instructions
(basically a portable reaper isntall that you can try out and if you like it you can implement it into your permanent install)
and with a documentation
(of the full feature list, listed all the cc messages and channels, with a corresponding Action names, and ID-s )
https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...LF?usp=sharing
(download the whole folder)
---
The downside of the project is that Bome midi translator is not free (but totally worth to buy!!)
but you can use the demo version whitch is fully functional, only you have to reload the preset after every 20 minutes.
The preset i created is only compatible with the maschine mikro mk3... but maybe it can be a good starting point for other controllers : )
I'm gonna create a separete thread for this if anyone else is interested in it, 'couse i don't want to spam this thread : )

Moss - Thanks so Much!
Hi Moss,
Just wanted to say that your Push 2 implementation for Reaper is awesome. I can see how much time and effort this must have been absorbed over the years, and to give it to this community is beyond amazing.
The latest thing to blow my mind is the User Pages feature. Its super easy to map my fav set of parameters for each VST or VSTi (as opposed to having to scroll through endless lists of parameters in the Device mode) and save the whole enchilada as a reusable track template.
Thanks again
Cheers
Jed
