Send all keyboard input to plugin with Kontakt 2 problem
Hi all,
Should this feature work properly?
At least for me when using Kontakt 2 VSTi it doesn't receive any keyboard inputs.
Does anyone else have this same problem or it is just me and my Reaper (v2.0beta14)?

I don't use Kontakt but here's a sort of generic reply in the form of a question.
Silly question maybe, but does Kontakt accept keyboard input in other hosts? I know that some plug-ins don't, in which case they won't accept them in Reaper either.

For example when I change Multi's name I can do it with Cubase but not with Reaper. I think Kontakt can receive key inputs but Reaper doesn't send them to it properly.

Ardell, I have the same problem with Hypersonic 2. It simply doesn't work.
There are SOME plugins that sort of work (at least partially), but this functionality is seriously broken.
Regards
Raphael

I don't use Kontakt, but you should see the red light on the left of the track meter when a key is pressed if Reaper is getting the Midi input from your keyboard.

You have to enable sound monitoring (forgot what it's called exactly).
Click the "R" button on your Kontakt track, then right click the area that opens. Make sure you've assigned your midi keyboard to the track and have enabled monitoring.

I'm talking about the keyboard where the letters come from not the MIDI keyboard
Does 'Send all keyboard input to plugin' mean MIDI keyboard?

No, you're understanding it correctly. Unfortunately I don't use Kontakt so I can't help (though I do think K3 looks pretty good). I do know that things weren't working fully with Guru until I made this selection, so it does work with some plugs.........

No, I see this as well (computer keyboard input doesn't work - MIDI keyboard A-OK). I've just accepted this limitation for now and edit all my Kontakt instruments in the standalone app. But it's still really annoying when you forget about this and try to delete something in Kontakt via the keyboard only to have Reaper trash the whole plugin instance (and that gig worth of samples that takes multiple minutes to reload).

K2 does not respond well to the [Del] key in Reaper 2010.
unless you are trying to get rid of K2 all together.

Kontakt 3 (3.0.1.009, latest version) has this problem as well, though it works fine in Wavosaur.
No combination of hanging the "Capture Keyboard from host" in Kontakt 3 and/or the "Send all keyboard input to plugin" in Reaper helps. Native Instruments' Kore 1.1 (I don't yet have Kore 2), and the latest versions of Massive, Absynth & FM8 all accept keyboard input fine.

Reason: Additional info - Wavosaur
