# Take markers: prompt for name/color immediately when adding markers during playback or recording
Lovely thank you ]
Should there be an optional workflow when addinig a marker while recording on more than one track that prompts you to select track(s) or item(s) for the markers to target after the recording pass finishes? This would save having to possibly delete loads of irrelevant take markers in a multitrack pass.
# Take markers: set undo point after adding markers during playback or recording:
When I drop take markers while recording (either quick add or with the prompt) and then undo the whole recording pass is undone. Is this expected?
If I add a take marker in playback and change the colour via the same dialog box while adding the marker and then hit undo, the whole marker is deleted rather than the just colour change undoing and then the marker. Is this expected?
(It is welcome that pressing escape after dropping a take marker is an effective undo while the dialog box is still open.)
# Take markers: draw in lanes:
The take marker text can easily visually collide with the item names though:

Take markers: draw in lanes
Is that what I think it is?
Can't wait to try it!
And other marker stuff is great too thanks!

Without having tried it, this whole time I thought Take Markers were a way to mark good takes while recording/comping.

Nope, it's still gnarly like this:

# Take markers: draw in lanes
I'm confused as to what this does?
I thought it meant take markers had an option to show up in the arrange page below the item they are on (in the "lanes" below the item).
That doesn't seem to be what it is. What am I missing? lol
Also. No rush but please consider also adding converting from and to take markers to arrange (normal) markers and also to convert take markers to cue markers when rendering using "selected items".
Thanks!
EDIT: hmm. Maybe it means draw them on the arrange when moving them around? That is the only thing I've found so far.

On windows, a number of browse-for-file actions still used the old-style (pre-Vista) dialogs.

Hi, Triode!
I even suggested the text vertically on the track to name the Take marker, from a certain size of the track avoiding overlapping the names. I hope that wasn't a stupid suggestion!
I had this idea when I saw the great suggestion of _Stevie_ which is intermediate the height for names. https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=232461&page=2

I think it means if two markers are close enough together that text overlaps then the later marker text is now bumped down a visual "lane" onto a new line.
It's great until you vertically shrink the track if the item name is near (end of clumsy licecap)

Thanks Triode for that info. That makes sense now
It's a good feature but I was hoping it meant that you could enable as an option lines to come out vertically from the bottom of the item so you can see how they link with other bits of audio etc below them. Great for grooves etc

The item name text collision doesn't happen when the preference "draw labels above the item rather than within the item" is ticked
But with themes that can use small track heights the markers need a larger top height margin in this situation:

@schwa
Here are the two mp3s in one archive.
One with how Reaper encodes chapternames and one how our Ultraschall-extension encodes them.
I also included a testproject, which created the Reaper-encoded one.
https://mespotin.uber.space/stuf/Cha...-Bugreport.zip
I also noticed another issue, that chaptermarkers cannot be exported, unless I add at least one ID3-Tag into the metadata of the project.
I added "Title" to the title. Before that, exporting didn't work at all.
This should change, that exporting of chapters is still possible nevertheless, with all id3-fields simply being empty, if nothing is set yet.

This is our source-code for insertion of chapter-markers. Maybe, this is helpful as reference too.
The specific function linked in here also supports exporting chapter-images. Maybe this is something nice to add to. Especially podcasters use this feature more and more:
https://github.com/Ultraschall/ultra...ID3V2.cpp#L284
but all other functions for that are also in there too.
Our developer means, that "Inputstrings are UTF-8. That's important".
We use taglib for that stuff.

Thanks. How do I see the chapter markers in MPC-HC? Even when playing your encoded mp3, I don't see anything in the seek bar, even with the default "show chapter marks in seek bar" enabled. Is there another setting I need?

You hover with the mouse over the progress-slider and the chapter-titles should appear as tooltips:
Edit:
I'll post the information from the abouts-dialog in here too. Maybe, there's something that needs to be installed additionally:

Hmm, I downloaded the current build 1.7.13, and I don't see any chapters when hovering over the seek bar and playing Chaptertest_Ultraschalls_Correctly_Encoded_Chapter s.mp3.

Maybe this article helps you.
https://auphonic.com/blog/2013/07/03...nced-podcasts/
According to the article, FFMPEG supports reading and writing chapter-markers. So maybe, this could be a better tool for checking them.
Edit: FFProbe seems to work as well for that.

Hi
Just installed 6.05 today, thanks for the updates.
One issue in the new Double render formats:
When the Secondary Output format tab is active, selecting a Preset overwrites the settings for the Primary Output Format instead.
Required behaviour: loading a preset applies those settings to whichever tab (Primary or Secondary) is visible in the window.
Thanks for considering
Andy

Hi, not sure if I'm posting this in the right place. I'm usually over in the CSI thread and I've been trying to get:
Code:
reaper.SetMixerScroll(reaper.GetSelectedTrack(0, 0))
to scroll the surface to the selected track (at the end of a script, the details of which I won't bore you with) The track selects properly on the screen when the script is run, but the surface only updates when the on screen selected track is deselected/reselected, ie by clicking on the screen.
@NoFish suggested I stick my head round the door here as apparently some changes had been made in the Track Manager to update the surface when selection changes were made. This doesn't seem to have helped my issue though.
Regarding the Track Manager selection updating the surface, the surface will only bank if the selected track is a higher number than the currently selected track ie if the currently selected track is Track 9 and I select Track 84 in the Track Manager, the surface(s) will bank. If I then select Track 4 (in the Track Manager) the track will select on screen but the surfaces won't bank. If I do the same but use the on screen mixer it will always bank, regardless of track number.

you just need to update your presets with 2nd render settings.

Ah, do you mean that if I save a preset now, with both primary and secondary format selected, it will save both?
That's good for most things, I guess, as most often I'll be saving a 24 bit wav as well as an mp3 listening copy.
But suppose I want to do a "non-standard" pair occasionally e.g. 24 bit 48kHz wav and 16 bit 44.1k wav. I don't have a preset for that combination, but do for each one individually. It'd be nice to be able to load a preset into Primary, and another into secondary.
