Default Return to original recorded track

Let's say that I gated the kick drum and it messed up the transients and I would like to return to the original Kick Drum track. Is it possible to return to the original on the hard drive somewhere?

not if it does not exist as saved on the HD

for the future, it is good to store all the audio for a project in a folder called Audio that is right in the project... you can do this if you name a folder Audio in the Project settings and then for each project do a one time Save as, and check the boxes at the bottom to copy all audio into the project....
...after that first Save as you can just use Save to keep updating the project

secondly, if you are going to destructively gate or other FX to a wav file, first make a copy of that on a new track and mute the original and deal with the copy... that way you'll always have both

What Hopi said.

If the gate was a plugin, just delete the plugin.

However, Reaper will never alter a source file. So if you can find the original file in Reaper Project Bay or Media Explorer, just drag it into the project on a new track and time-align it with the processed item.

Try the Track Versions script.

If I'm understanding correctly

1 - heal splits in items
or
2 - drag to extend first item to it's full length.
