Default Open in ext editor and Take Philosophy

Open in audio editor is working perfectly when tied to sound forge

This probably brings us to "take" philosophy now

There should definitely be an option to open COPY in the editor

The event clicked on would be defined by its length on the timeline, so if there were a split or a shrink, only the section of the event shown would actually go.

This would require that when using open copy, it would create a new "take" of that event section, switch to that take, open it in the eidtor and when done stay on that take.

Of course then we would need a simple take chooser. Vegas' t/Shift T is easy enough or any other way I guess

Agreed that both 'open copy in editor', and the take functionality you suggest would be a great and useful addition.
