Default Acmebargig Head Case released

Now I know that the Maya were right: it's the end of the world, Acmebargig Head Case has been released

Tough times for other amp sim developers I guess...

So, what happens with prepurchasers? Do we have to pay additionally, since I see Ken has bumped up the price?

I hope not, ED. It wouldn't be fair to the prepurchasers. But, lets hope Ken or someone from acmebargig can clarify that.

There's no way that Ken would ever do that, ED. Way too much integrity.

Congrats to Ken and his team. This has been a very long road.

Can't wait to use it on my new tune!

I feel bad for other amp sim developers now... Not really.

I don't. Kuassa has amazed me, recently, as well as S-Gear. Really great sounding plugins, pretty much on par of ABG, IMHO.

I hope Ken & co. are gonna send out some sort of e-mail to us prepurchasers to notify us on further steps. I don't intend to join GAM forums or Facebook, and it seems that Ken kinda gave up on his own ABG beta forum, so...

Yeah, no FB here either, although I have an account on GAM.

The thing that is really new and revolutionary here is the user created heads. They've got the sound, the playability, the realism down. Maybe that aspect is on par with S-Gear and Kuassa (I have to try those still), but the user community and content is what is really going to push HC forward.

PS - Send Ken and email and ask him to do that. You've got his ear. You were a big help along the way.

Ken mentioned (on the Facebook group) that a link to the download for pre-purchasers would be set up on the ABG Beta forums today, and there were previous comments (from Ken over the last few days) that pre-purchasers would be emailed about it soon.

I just received the D/L link by email; it's also at the beta forum now.

No additional price for prepurchasers. Yay!

I almost shed a tear of joy when seeing this, but the Windows only thing drew it right back into my ducts to convert it to a tear of sadness.

I feel left out...

Sorry for the slow downloads guys; you're all really hammering the server

We're looking at trying to speed things up a little, we've never had this kind of traffic spike before.

The server is very busy at the moment, but a big congrats on the release...I think I'll wait a couple of days for the traffic to taper off before trying again.I very much look forward to playing around with it.

I like all the amp options we have these days in sims. There are dozens of them.

The one thing that concerns me is that we do not have the graphics of the actual hardware, which for me it's very important since I know most the gear ou t for the last 30 years pretty much. I know what some songs used since I have heard it over the actual hardware over the years

I would be nice if the GUI could be licenced for all products. But too many Companies to deal with.

Still it is astonishing that I was paying around with Amplitube 1.0 a couple of years ago and now Some sims are better than the hardware as I prove it every weekend as I don't use any Amps.

First time I tried the original Amplitube I knew something was coming that change Guitar FX forever.

Today we hae dozens of these sims, however I wish to have a sim where I pick a CS1 chorus and it will show me a pedal of it as an example.

Most models to me are but cheap imitations of the real gear, and real gear logos on them are just a cheap marketting gimmick....
Just my 2 cents..

Ken,

The new download link works a little better than the old one!

Took me 51 seconds, compared to over an hour on the other one.

Thanks, man.

So.. Hi !
Its amazing to have a little free time again!

@Evil, of course I would not ask you guys to pay again..

@everyone
I am sorry that the web site was so slow, but it really took Scott and I by surprise. Out of all the releases in the past Head case is the only one to kick the server's butt.

We did this sort of like a soft release first, and we only mentioned it at the face book group. We still have yet to officially announce it anywhere else. So we really did not expect this type of response..

I also wanted to point comment on something that was said earlier in the thread..
The ABG beta forum.. I stopped going there because among other things, it became too routine for me, and I needed to shake things up a little. Every day we were doiing the same thing and to a point the development started moving in circles. So, I thought, lets just stay away and get done what we need to have done, then we can release and move on to the next set of edits. Well, here we are with a released product. Its not perfect, and I'm sure there will be fixes needed, but at least we're on the next level..

Anyways guys, all the pre-purchasers should have a download link now, and if there are any questions please ask. I will be adding more videos to the asylum as we move forward, I still have a massive amount of ground to cover there.,..

I have a question with latency.

I have tried several demos of guitar sims and why is it that Jamvox is so much better with lower latencies? i have mine running at steady 1.5 ms and I ended up buying based on low it can work with lower latencies.

It's sound is also very good and the they did give some colours to the pedals to make them look like the originals ( just close enough) to be very usefull

example they have the Korg SSD3000 and it looks close to the original where anyone who is ever seen one knows what it is.

I know there licencing issues with names as I have noticed several guitar sims ( Guitar Rig) can't even name them MARSHALL or VOX or others)

If I see a C1 chorus logo( even cheap logo) I know that I need to load it.
But to be looking for the CS1 sound is a pain in the ass when you have to demo all the chorus sounds, hope you understand not trying to be silly here.

This is the same problem with Amplitube as well, never know what effect I am using as it does not match the original logo and you can tell that is what they are trying to sim as the sound is close.

It just makes it harder to find older sounds for songs.

Also a big thing is Routing, able to put effects before the amp ( to overdrive the amp)??

Yes

To be honest I have these guitar Sims

Amplitube 2.0
Guitar Rig 2
jamvox 2.5

That's it. The new guitar sims are getting way too big and bloated.

I notice the download is only 56 megs that is very decent.

I still use those sims due to their lower requirements and this of course affects how low on the latency you can go. I am downloading the trial and checking it out.

your server is getting hammered, your website's home index wont even come up LOL that is a good sign though your site hammered with requests

Yeah that server hammering totally took us by surprise. All the releases in the past it has worked fine, with no problems or even a hiccup.

The funny thing is, we really tried NOT to have this hyped at all. All along throughout the development we would release public betas so that people would not have any questions, they could just see what it was all about. I remember there was another software release not too long ago (from another company) that was also in development for a long time, but they never released any public betas. As a result, people started getting their own ideas of what this software was all about and before you knew it, according to public opinion, this thing did everything but wipe. Then when it was actually released, it fell short of expectations.. We didn't want that to happen with HC, so we tried our best not to hype it, and to make sure it was accessible.

Well either way, sorry about the server issues. Hopefully Scott will have that resolved today..

Here is a video guys that shows you how to download and install a head from the Virtual Amp Stash. It also shows how to use the Virtual Amp Stash App

Thanks everyone..

@danfuerth
One more thing to remember, Head Case was also designed to be modular, the Head Case loner application is a head loader without cabs or effects...It is also designed to be portable, you can run the "Copy to USB" App and it will make a perfect working copy of your Head Case on a usb stick..

Exxellent USB OPTION

Only thing I found annoying was the dark interface hard to see everything on there.

Sounds great. And something new and exciting.

Thanks danfuerth for the nice comments..

I have become hard of seeing now and its a PITA for me as well. So, I wanted provide a high contrast version of it. I just didn't have time. In future, I don't know when, I want to make a high contrast version available on request.

Truth be told, I'm a little ashamed that it took me loosing some of my sight before this has become a priority, but it is on the to do list for sure..

Pipe, what do you think about the stock presets and settings?

I mean, it's easy to get lost in the Head Case universe, but can it be easy and does it offer good results if you just stay with what is out of the box?

For example, how does it compare in your opinion to products like Amplitube or Guitar Rig?

Thanks,
Mario

The stock settings (assuming you launch the VAS Browser app from inside head case and grab some amps) are pretty damn good! You can, even now, while there aren't a vast universe of heads available, find an amp that matches the style you are looking for, for anything I can think of

But I would say, to really see the power of this thing, download one of the ridiculously high gain heads, and just pick soft then hard. The tube dynamics emulation is out of this world, all but the most insane high gains will clean up considerably based on your picking dynamics. So much so that you may actually want to put a compressor in before the amp gain!

Try the demo, and if you really cant find an amp you like, tell the guys what you want and see if they can build it for you. Richard is looking for line outs of heads and preamps to build from as well
