Default Find cause of another bizarre computer behavior....

Dear Reaper/Computer/Win 10 Gurus -

I have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 firewired to my Win 10 PC.

It works fine most of the time, but every now and then, it loses its connection for a moment. Sound discontinues and the green "lock" light on the interface goes off, then comes back on after a few seconds.

At first I thought it was a buggy plug-in but it happens with other plugs.

My question: Is there some way to make use of the Event Viewer (or some other administration tool or log) to see what is actually happening?

Thank you in advance.

I started having similar problems a few weeks ago (I'm using a MOTU ultralite mk3.) Very intermittent, perhaps once a session, but it sucks when it's during a live take!

Unfortunately, I upgraded to REAPER 6 and Windows 10 v1909 about the same time, so I don't know who to blame. My system was fairly rock solid before that. CPU and memory are never near max, so it's a not resource problem.

Same thing happened with my Focusrite Saffire 14 (firewire) about a year ago...the problem was the power jack needed a wiggle (rotate).
Then it happened again last week...re-seating the firewire card seems to have fixed it so far.
I've also had it happen when mucking about with OBS Studio and Voicemeeter...get that clicky sample rate change thing but it doesn't stop...just keeps clicking and fails to lock. Making sure all app sample rates are the same then re-starting seems to fix that.

I had some weird stuff going on with my saffire 1010 a year ago or so. worked fine then wouldn't connect. I moved the firewire card to a different slot and it fixed the problem.... so far.
