Default dividing stereo pairs into mono

Ah yes, newbieland.....I feel so at home.

Up to now been using Reaper for editing solo singer guitar player stuff.

I recently bought a Zoom H2 handy recorder to get down our weekly jams. Sound quality is everything reviewers and users have said it is. What a bargain.

Anyway, I recorded in the 4 track mode (recorder has 4 mics)which gives me 2 stereo pairs. No problem dumping the files into Reaper, but I can't figure out how to separate the tracks into 4 mono items. What am I missing?

Thanks!

Hi hachback, Welcome to the reaper forum!

Not sure if this is what you need but here goes.
If you have a stereo file and you want to have the left side on 1 track and the right side on another.
Copy the file so you now have 2 identical stereo files on different tracks.
Now right click on track 1 / item settings / item channel mode: mono ( left )
Then right click on track 2 / item settings / item channel mode: mono ( right )
now you have the left side of the stereo file on track 1 and the right side on track 2

Hope this is waht you meant
Cheers

Thanks for the welcome and advice!

I'll let you know how it works out later today. Obviously there is lotsa bleed, but anything I can do to push the lead parts to the front will help.
