Default VOX Operation

I have been asked to put together a recording system to capture audio from several radio transceivers. Now I already do this with Reaper myself and a multi input AI, on continuous record (until I stop it).

The difference here is, the person asking doesn't want (sometimes) hours of dead silence to be recorded, they just want the audio recorded.
Is there a way to have Reaper operate in VOX (Voice Operated Relay) mode so recording only occurs when an audio signal is present? This would also have to be global effecting all tracks and not some plugin on each track, as then you would just end up with problem of dead silence been recorded on the other tracks.

I realise Reaper was not designed for such applications, just wondering if there was a way of making it operate this way, or there is some programming guru that has some kind of JS or Plugin that would create a global vox across all tracks enabled to record.

See the Reaper User Guide. Search for 'Saving Live Output To Disk'.
That window has a setting to stop recording when the signal is below a threshold for a given amount of time.

You might want to test this out first; I've never had much luck getting it to work.

There is also a program called AIPL Singulator that will do this.

Was not successful in the tests I done. As it is not true VOX operation, it can cut pauses/tails of transmissions.
Each transmission source needs to be recorded to it's own discrete track. I had a look at the AIPL software and it is not suitable from what I can see on the site.

I didn't hold much hope of getting any response in respect to this, so thank you for your reply and efforts, appreciated.
I was hoping there may have been a programming guru that could have made some plugin or similar, as it would have been a paying proposition as it is intended for commercial operation. Either it can't be done or their not interested.

Thanks again.

I built a radio monitoring setup like that, years ago, with hardware. A UHER telco recorder. 48 channels of voice record quality with built-in VOX.

These recorders turn up on ebay every now and then. Usually dirt cheap.

SNOOPER seems to be capable of doing what you want:
