The Grateful Dad Jokes Are Back :D
Joke 1.
What's the best way to make a crap recording?
By making an (anal)log
Sorry, I've been working that out for more than 10 years and just now finished it (I think)
EDIT: No hard feelings if I'm banned after this one

I don't know why this has me blushing so much; pride, embarrassment, genuine gratefulness or both?? (shrug)
I'll take being stored in a BethHarmon folder anytime though! Just remember to type in Hoofy and there I'll be
BTW your work, unlike my joke, is WAY over my head- but brilliant just the same!
And it will have much greater impact on the Reaper and the masses, no doubts!!
Seriously- looking forward to delving more into your world of classical editing, even if only for appreciation purposes. And of course the occasionally appropriate pun reference
P.S. "rm - rf" ??

rm -rf is how you permanently delete stuff in Linux. Maybe the joke just needs a little turd polish.

Thanks! Yeah, feel free to ask any questions if you do delve into my classical tools. And no, a good joke has way more impact when delivered well over and above some code

RM is the UNIX util (stands for "remove")
rm -rf is a conjoined method of passing arguments.
-r and -f
-r means recursive (REMOVE subfolders as well)
-f means "force" - usually to overcome the prompts that a (sub)folder is not empty (so remove it anyway)
rm -rf is a terrible way to mess up your system.
Windows equivalent would be
FOR %%i in (`dir /s`) DELETE %%i
in fact there's a 1-to-1 UNIX equivalent
rmdir /q /s C:/Windows
(don't)
where /q stands for "quiet" (don't complaing about non-empty dirs) and
/s stands for "silent" meaning do not prompt for subfolders.
Who came up with it first? IBM? Xerox? Jobs?

I appreciate these cliff notes in regards to an in-depth subject. Still much for me to understand obviously, but am already finding the rm -rf code to be potentially useful

I'm an endless well of such jokes, so you either accept it, or you'll rm for the rest of eternity
Though this could be actually meditative so I could pave your way to Nirvana. Unless you saw them in the late 80ies or 90ies.
Or the 60ies.

Ok, I'll accept yours and raise you another.
If Pat Sajak started a band with Krist Novoselic as his bass player,
and Dave Grohl as drummer,
What would be the name of the band?
Near Vanna
Badoom-chhh

If only a bunch of comedians were to get together and form a funny metal covers band...
you could call it 'Pun-tera'

I could see this idea gaining traction in this forum. And at least when they'd do their mic drops, we'd have some big REAPER Cushions to deal with it
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=266378
Sorry to drag you back in Siddie, but what comes around goes around, and figured I'd better add yours to the (anal)log as well

My ex-girlfriend told me that the best way to perform oral sex on a woman is to just spell out the alphabet with your tongue.
So I practiced and got really good at it.
Everything was going great until she left me for a Chinese guy.

I'm actually speechless...
...which may explain why I don't have a girlfriend

Unfortunately I only have time for one more before I have to get back to practicing my flossing with pubic hair..
And this one is actually quite personal to me as I've had to learn this lesson the hard way as well..
But, also for all my fellow Dirge Droppers:
Ahem
Q: Why do so many songwriters produce so much crap?
A: Either misuse or overuse of the Colon
On the upside I do seem to be getting a little faster at this. That one only took me about 2 1/2 days to squeeze out from start to finish

Actually, that's just overcoming the recursive folders and non-empty folders.
The way you really permanently delete stuff in Linux is with shred.
On Windows, it's sysexternals sdelete.exe.
And BTW, you can't polish a third.

It depends on what you have a "third" of.
If it was a third of turd then check out the MythBusters on YouTube for polishing a turd.
