Default Sonic Anomaly, where did they go?

What happened to Sonic Anomaly? Their website seems to be gone.

Looks like a tech failure of the server they're hosted on. Or a DNS problem. Forgot to pay the bill?

Or, it could be the time of the year. On Oct. 28, in five days. a lot of certificates expire. Maybe someone made a typo while updating?

Just in case the website won't come back or anyone wants the plugins in the meantime, they are also available on vst4free.com

Thank you!!

Also, side question, because this is only the second time I install a "dynamic library" file -- I gather these *.dylib files are only needed for installing/uninstalling particular plugins... I could delete the *.dylib after I'm done installing the plugins, right?

You are welcome.

I just use ReaPack as a common simple civilian and use/rely on the options ReaPack provides, manually hunting files for deletion is, nah, why? If something is still there I would assume something might need it?
Not sure how clever ReaPack is, it seems to do as I ask so far though and have not had any issues (yet)

Short version: I dunno.

You could search for the JSFX-version which will work on all platforms.

Actual reason why Sonic Anomaly plugins are gone

it was impossible for him to comply with Steinberg's VST SDK license agreement. Decided to quit instead.

I got this through Reza the GUI designer.

It's unfortunate he didn't just continue with the JSFX versions instead.

Purely out of curiosity, what is it about Steinberg's license agreement that would cause a dev to quit? I assume it would be a cost thing, same as why so many just don't bother with AAX.

he never properly signed for the license originally. when he looked into it properly Steinberg had already discontinued VST2 in Oct 2018. Too late.

And VST3's agreement is a PITA or a substantial cost consideration?

It's unfortunate he didn't think it was worth it to continue with the JSFX versions.

I still have the email of you guys telling me you would never program your plugins in VST3 and that it was stupid. Oh how things have changed.

Tokyo Dawn Labs
It still is obsolete from a technical point of view. But it is purely political business, with Steinberg slowly raising fences between VST2 and VST3, with some hosts even only supporting VST3.
There's more than that: Catalina notarization, AAX "certification", are all violent political moves costing us money for nothing (or worse, having to explain and excuse this irrational world to our end users).
Reality is, our own, very human customers start to struggle under these politics. The best we can do in this situation is to help them.
But don't get me wrong. This stuff is mostly useless and a major PITA for us. Steinberg, Apple, Protools, they are all shady wannabe dictators using whatever is in their power to rule the little world of audio. In doubt, simply don't mess with them and go Cockos Reaper! Problem solved. But we can't let our customers hang in the wind.

Thanks for this. I still use Sonic Anomaly plugins nowadays and I even traded messages with the developer (me praising his work). He was so nice.

There is such a schism developing between those of us who just want to live in peace and get on with our lives and those who want to control EVERYthing these days, at all levels.

Sad state of affairs, but it has been that way for so many centuries I dont see this current escalation leading anywhere but down the usual rabbit hole. In the meantime, I am grateful for enterprises like COCKOS & TDR doing business with a degree of humanity.

P.S. Trump & Johnson/Cummings - the Western World`s perfect storm.

Anyone know who is pulling Trump`s strings?
