Default Looper function in reaper?

Hi.

You probably know this .. heh.. but Reaper is used by many many musicians for practice/training. I'm asking for a feature that couldn't find (didn't dig enough yet though) but would be just freaking awesome. Maybe it's possible to set it up already here (then please, give me some advice) but if not here it is:

Set up a kind of looper function with a little twist:
Mark the region, start recording, loop it back, let the last recorded loop play as backgroun, record something on top of that.. next loop the new recorded material gets played and you can record over it..

So it'd be like switching loop old+new, then the new replaces the old etc etc.
And the whole session would land on separate tracks also.
------------------

I searched around, got a fancy multifunctional freeware looper but it didn't have such option. Also have tried a few pedal-box-loopers but there was also nothing like this. So I thought that might be something new?

Ok, thanks for your attention!
Eman.

Hm, it doesn't do constant overdubbing and clearing the material from 2 loops back. Well, the point is to not having to push any buttons, should be automatic.

Maybe I explained badly. It goes like that:

record...:AAAABBBBCCCCDDDD
playback:------AAAABBBBCCCC

Eh, got a good idea from some other place to use a long delay - should be same thing.

this could be a very attractive and totally unique feature for reaper to have-
but will it? + be 100% bug free>? .. hmm dunno..

So far I got one response about one app that should have that feature. Quantiloop. But it is for iOS.

Yes, I can see how Super 8 could be kinda too much for a looper you are looking for. I can imagine a script which would engage one track to record in a tape mode, switch to another track to do the same while playing back the previous track...back and forth. Unfortunately I have no idea how I would go about actually making such a script myself.

I am rather desperate here so if cant get it done in some clever method, then I would probably go and learn scripting in the ways of Reaper. But it would be a long and buggy road indeed.

heh-- well you was onto something with the echo thing.. but that has drawbacks although can be made to 'work'..
tbh- the super8 looper on a track by track basis for upto 8channels- would seem perfect in theory....
many musicians may find use in this possibility- because, much of music is loopy--loopin loop da loops
j.frankel uses super8 himself without much bother it seems- so it's all good in practice-live.
make it per track=sold.

*edit..almost forgot - re>>

ReaDelay works perfectly
Just set 1/8 notes at 64 or whatever and its exactly what I needed. Nice.

Thanks and have a good day
