Looking for mix and master feedback in particular whether you regard that snare as annoying.

I find that for DnB it is often a good idea to mix an acoustic one with like a TR909 snare. Tweak eq and proportions of each to taste.

great percussion in general, including the snare, which is shared among a few tracks I believe(e.g. it's in NYTotally" as well right?). I like that it's somewhere between the consistency of an electronic snare, but with the character of an acoustic one.

Thanks! I always do the snare from scratch but it is always a combination of an acoustic snare and an electronic one. It's amazing the variety of snares you can get by just layering two in different proportions and with different processing.

Listening with Sony MDR-7506 headphones (which are a bit mid heavy) and that snare doesn't sound "annoying" to me, but might be a bit loud in the mix. The tone suits the music. But when the tune comes down at about 1:35 it starts taking away from the other instrumentation going on because it's too loud. Rather than having it punching through the whole mix why not feature it louder only at some points (use automation)?
