Default Affordable amp for passive monitors?

I was looking at possibly picking up some passive monitors but I haven't really worked with passive speakers before. What's a relatively cheap amp I could get for powering a pair of Alesis Monitor One MK2s?

Your not helping much with your budget limit - so don't bash suggestions you get.

So a $400 alternative might be Harman Kardon HK980 which I find sound really well for this money. And it has a good remote as well.

My first choice would be Yamaha P2050, P2100 or P2200. The Samson is said to be really really good, as well as various older Rotel HiFi amps (and please don't buy the Alesis amp).

Default Power amps

Alesis makes a relatively cheap power amp but I like the Crown XLS1000 myself.
