Default Tint Colors

Is there a way to change the tint shades for selected vs unselected?

I'm finding that the select options shows the color of the track (or very close to) while to unselect doesn't. How do I swap the two?

I may be misunderstanding what you mean, but in the actions list there's "Theme development: Show theme tweak/configuration window" where you can change the colors of the theme.

Notice there are two colors one when I click the media item, that is the same or close to the track color selected. When the media item isn't clicked, it's a lighter color.

I would like to swap those so the un click media item has the darker color

Hi Greg, same answer as Kyo, go to

"Theme development: Show theme tweak/configuration window"...

...you can make unselected "light pink" and selected "purple", or the contrary, or whatever you want. Bye

That's not the answer. The unselected needs to take on the color i pick for the channel, instead that's what the selected is doing

There's rarely one answer when it comes to theme matters. Theming has gone through several layers of development over the years, all still functional, so you need to figure out what method was used by whoever made the theme you are looking to tweak.

In your case, its image files that are providing the item background. (item_bg.png and item_bg_sel.png).

First, see this sticky to learn how to unpack a theme so you can get at its images.

Then either:
  1. Delete the images (or corrupt their file names so that Reaper doesn't recognise them), leaving the underlying code colours to do the job, which you may edit using the theme tweaker as suggested above.
  2. Steal the image files from a theme that does items the way you like, and overwrite them into the theme.
  3. Make your own images.

It more so seems to be a code issue. I haven't found a theme that does what i'm asking. They all seem to make a lighter hue of the track for the media item (not sure why) while the selected version takes on the actual color of the track.

Thanks for linking me to sticky, running through it now.

Well, feel free to try that if you like, but I would encourage you to trust me on this

FWIW, it sounds like what you want is pretty much what the V5 default theme does.
