Default Tempo envelope

Hi Justin,

Could we have a tempo envelope so that we can draw gradual tempo changes?

...and if the project's starting tempo is 120 BPM, and we want to hear it at 110 BPM, the tempo map/envelop will adjust accordingly.

Thanks,

Vic

Hi Vic,

The Tempo Map Envelope is accessible by enabling the Master Track in the Track Control Panel (View > Show Master Track).

To view the envelope in the Master Track, click on the Envelopes button in the Master Track control panel, then select the checkboxes next to "Tempo Map" and "Visible".

You can add a point by clicking on the Envelope, which will add a square transition by default (this can be changed to linear in Envelope Preferences if you prefer).

To add a gradual (linear) point, right-click on the Timeline and select Insert Time Signature Marker, then select "Gradually transition tempo to next marker". This will add a linear transition before and after this point.

Once the points have been added to the Envelope you can drag them to reposition them as needed.

At the moment this works for MIDI only, so it won't adjust the audio files automatically if you have a mixture of MIDI and audio files.

Cheers,

Malcolm.

Hi Malcolm,

When I drag the envelope points to reposition them, the MIDI events also move to the new position together with the points.

How do I make the MIDI events stay in their place?

This is not Acid.

All events are positioned in absolute time, not by bar/beat.

It's a feature many of us would like to see.

Cheers,

Randy

Drawing a tempo envelope should be as simple and straightforward as the one in Sonar...

+1 vote !

1) Locked clips should be positioned in absolute time

2) all the other clips and events - synced in bars/beats. Even audio clips should move their starting points.

3) one should be able to make an independent tempo lane (a tempo subgroup) for any track or for a group of tracks. This would be very useful not only for experimental music, but first for beat-matching different recordings (as described in the "grid stretching" thread.
