Very Cool!
I have to ask tho if you are planing to do a "mix from start to finish" video using only Reaper & it's native effects?
Now THAT would be cool.....

Outstanding, Kenny, as usual! I'm lurching forward with your videos. They're the best value of anything I've bought lately. Incredibly well done. Congratulations.

Will watch tonight.
If it's anything like Kenny's other videos, this should be a no-brainer purchase for all R4 users.

I went through a little bit.. I've got work to do so I'll finish later.
But it looks really good..
It's always boring when you already know things. But Kenny always seems to hit on stuff where..I'm like Damn I didn't know that!! Or I found myself thinking..I forgot you can do that Damn!!
Good job Kenny

Thanks.
That really is something I try to do. I work out everything I need to show and always try to stick something unique in at the end. Otherwise I don't feel like each video is good enough.
Thanks for the support.

Thank you.
One of the biggest complaints about Reaper Explained is that it's not as useful for people who already know the program. Although there are a few useful bits for just about anyone.
But Tips and Tricks should probably be useful for all Reaper users. It's paced for people who just finished and grasped Reaper 4 Explained, so it takes off from there.
But even if you're already doing some of the things I show in these videos, I'd be surprised if you do them exactly the same way. In fact, I watched all the tutorials I could find on these subjects and didn't see too many people using Reaper the way I do in the videos. Doesn't mean my way is always better, but you'll definitely see another way that you might prefer.
Thanks

Thanks for these Kenny. I love the videos and love your teaching style. The NY accent is icing on the cake.
Had a few non audio friends walk by when your video was on, and they stopped to watch even though they new nothing about audio. I asked them why they weren't bored to death and they said that they were drawn in by your voice.
Good job man!

Excellent Video to compliment the other I bought, and still haven;t totally comprehended, but today was all Reaper.
Tip....A splash of DSP Verb to give the feeling of a seminar seems to be cool on the video track...

Yeah. Not sure about that one. I don't like to try to "trick" the user.

I agree I think a verb will give it that Morning Zoo radio mix station vibe.
I like it like it is.. Changing the amb level of the vocal will take you out of paying attention to the video if you ask me.

I've bought a number of videos from that Groove 3 site, and you are the best instructor by far. You explain the basics well but you also give practical examples. Certain other videos I've bought feel like a narration of the manual.

When he names tracks in the TCP, his fingers are so fast you can;t hear the individual keypresses, and the track name appears as fast as greased lightning.
I hate to keep reminding you but these videos are extremely well done.
Might you do a Reaper MIDI video in the next addition...?
Thanks Again

I'm afraid I have to compliment you yet again, Kenny. Very nicely done. If you're not careful you're going to get a reputation.
I do notice that you've slowed down your talking speed a hair, which is a pity, but, if it was conscious, perfectly understandable from a cost/benefit perspective, alas.
Lots of great content in these, so don't take this the wrong way — something in me must apparently have to make up for having to compliment you so often — but why wasn't something as powerful as snapshots covered in this series? And are we wrong in imagining you're going to bring us more in the future? The SWS extensions provide a lot of material for an enterprising young man such as yourself.
At any rate, imho excellent work.
Cheers again,
Seth
Peace

Yes, plenty of room for a tips and tricks part two...
Fantastic companion to ...Explained v4. I think I only found one chapter that didn't light little fires behind my eyes and send me scrabbling for my notebook. Essential for someone like me who doesn't use REAPER every day...

I really liked the part on quantizing live drums. I've wondered how to do that, and lo it's not that hard. It's pretty crazy that you can quantize multitrack drum recordings and have it sound natural.

Bearing in mind the drums weren't that bad to start with it is amazing what you can do with good editing.

I can't say for sure if it was on purpose. It's always been the biggest complaint of my older videos. But when I get excited, I talk fast. I can't help it.

To be honest, I've stayed away from the SWS extensions in Reaper 4 Explained because I didn't want to confuse the beginner user. I actually purposely didn't even use them myself so as to keep things simpler.
For Tips and Tricks, I had it on the list. But it was so extensive (and I didn't play around with it til the end) that I had to leave it off.
I could easily make 10 videos on just the SWS extensions. Hmmm.

A very good series and a good followup to the Reaper explained series. The freeze section was worth it for me. I was doing my own manual version sorta like freeze. I'd even read the Reaper manual and didn't see the point of using freeze. Having seen your explanation, it was an 'ah' that's why freeze is there.
I recently posted a video of my version of The Entertainer on YouTube. They gave me a hard time, demanding I prove I had the rights to post it. I had to laugh when you played a bit of The Entertainer.
Thanks

These are the kind of stories that makes it all worthwhile for me.
I can't tell you how often I think that a feature is so self-explanatory that it's silly or pointless to explain it or make a video. But I'm wrong. We all pick up on things differently.
I also had a work-around for freeze tracks but this new feature is so much better.
BTW - I didn't even realize this until after the videos were released (I might add it in at some point) but did you know that you can freeze a buss or a folder as well?
You can make a folder for each instrument set (Drums, Bass, Guitars, Keys, etc) and freeze it to save DSP.
So if the drums sound great and you don't want to task your CPU by playing back 8 - 16 tracks with compressor and EQ plugins, just put it all in a folder (add the reverb as well) and freeze it. Mute all the individual tracks and don't worry about the drums until mix time.

Oh no. That's not the "The Entertainer". It's a random burst of notes that sound similar.
