Assumed you could assign "one, two, three, four" as click sounds it would sound off time because of the lack of metromome sample start offset. With many sounds the weight of them is not at the initial transient. If you tried to crop the sample start so it sounds in time you get Arnie saying something like "on, two, ree, ore"...

any more? I think Reaper is the Only Host that allows you to "send click to track"

you know how you can replace the default metronome sound? first beat sample and subsequent beat?

when I do that it plays the metronome samples that I want. But when I send the Click source to the track it uses the default metronome sound.

how do I get it to use my own samples when I use the insert click source?

I've used the default Reaper click and adjusted the pitch so that it would cut through better for the musician...I mean, Drummer.

Insert "Click Source."

Then right click over the "click track" and select "Source Properties". That'll put you into the same metronome window where you can then add the WAV files you want.
And this time they'll stick.

Used the UREI digital click (or the Akai MPC click which is virtually the same) for a long time.
It always cuts through every frequency so you can always hear it. Even drummers who play spot on the click can still hear it. Without it being uncomfortably loud, piercing or distracting from the music. And it doesn't leak into mics from headphones like so many clicks do.
It's basically just a 1-2 samples long semi-square waveshape pulse.

Default making it stick

If you change them in your current, already started project when you save the project it will be there as changed the next time you open it.

and..
open a New project
change the sounds in the metronome box to the ones you want

save it as a project file template
- File/Project Templates/Save project as template.

Options/Preferences/Project - make sure the path is to where the new project template file is located.

Furthermore, a tip to avoid getting Reapers default pluppy-click when you choose INSERT > CLICK SOURCE source on a track: you could set up a track with click on already, and save that with your template.

On a track, put 1 small item, an audiofile with 1 click sound on it, your prefered click sound. Set the item timebase to "Time" so the sound character of the click won't be affected if you change the tempo of the song. Then, copy it up so you got 1 item positioned exactly on each quarter note. Do that for 1 bar. Then copy that up too, so finally you got about 150 bars of click set up. That ought to be enough for most projects.

This way, you have your prefered click inserted on a track which will follow whatever tempo you set, including accelerandos and rallentandos. This track can be muted, until you wanna render with click, or render out a separate clicktrack to send alongside audio/MIDI files to someone. Save your default work template with this track and audio files on it, so you have it right there every time.

For recording though, you should use Reaper's metronome with your prefered click sound. Otherwise you won't get no count-in click and other such things.

You have to be a guitarist to say that.

I use a kick & snare from SMDRUMS with the metronome pattern set to ABAB (for 4/4). When that's distracting (like when tracking drums) I mute it and insert a click source on a track in the drums buss folder.

Just wanted to bring this thread back to front; lots of great metronome sounds in here.

I'm looking for the metronome sounds found in Roland's Fantom S or Fantom-X music workstations.

Does anyone have these?

Peace,Thanks in advance.

Great thread idea!

Here are a couple I use. Thank you to those that have shared.

I prefer a lower, smooth sound that doesn't poke my ear drums.

Default Collection of 118 metronome sounds

Hi all,

on this lazy saturday morning I've recorded a bunch of metronome sounds. You can download the collection here:

https://stash.reaper.fm/40824/Metronomes.zip

It's a variety of 118 sounds, from soft to ear piercing. I'm currently learning how to play the drums and got a bit sick of the old clacks.

I've used U-he Zebra for the synth sounds and all sorts percussion props around the house for everything else.

Enjoy!

A bit late, but maybe you're still searching ;-) Got these clicks off my Fantom (see attachment).
