Ok but if i press +8 for one note up it goes up 1-99..I dont get this I only want to go up a single note in an octave 1-12 or a complete Octave straight up in sets of Twelve like in Logic.

Don't mean to be a pain in the Hoop but any way of jumping a complete Octave...

Since this is a MIDI thread and we're talking transpose/octave change...

I've today been trying to do more sequencing in REAPER and realised how complicated it gets when you transpose a MIDI item in main window and then try to edit it in the MIDI window. When clicking a note or on the piano roll it plays at original pitch, but then when you hit play the same notes you have just been pointing play at the new pitch.

I'm pretty sure this is why it's a good idea for transposing the whole MIDI item from the main window to actually move the notes themselves up/down the stave (maybe keeping the current visual indicator "pitch +1.00" etc so you can see if you have transposed in the main window), otherwise it's just very illogical - you're clicking on your notes to preview and hearing something other than what would play back.

If you use a JS plugin then of course you will hear the correct transposed notes every time - so no complaints there.

I *could* just avoid using transpose from the main window I suppose, but then (like quantize) it would be great to do those basic MIDI functions from the main window.

Also - not sure if anyone else has stumbled over this - left/right arrow keys in MIDI window move the selected notes, instead of moving you along the timeline as they do in the main window. I wish the MIDI was more like the audio!

Right click than choose item properties (or F2)and there is "pitch adjust" field where you can enter semitones.

Shift+9 is (by default?) "Pitch item down one semitone". But there are also actions like "Pitch item down one cent", and "Pitch item down one octave". The latter is here attached to Numeric Keyb 3, but I think that I assigned that myself.

I also have Numeric Keyb 9 assigned to "Pitch item up one octave".

Since no-one seems to have mentioned it yet (at least not in this thread) but by default (at least on Windows and Linux):

Alt+Num8 Transposes selected MIDI notes up one octave

Alt+Num2 Transposes selected MIDI notes down one octave
