the wiki is perfect for this, and has a structure similar to what a chm would, unlike the user guide...

Jason, let me know if you need any good software for creating CHM files. I've tracked down some pretty good freeware, but not at my studio right now so can't remember what it's called.

Just wondering, but is the wiki main page supposed to look like this ?

http://www.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

I dont think so ...

There are too many bored people in this world.

Could easily have been worse, could have been every page in the Wiki.

I've put it back as it was from the history; is there a way to block this kind of daftness?

I put the main page on "protect" mode so only administrators can modify it and I banned the abuser from the wiki.

Hey Mike,

Time for a geography lesson, please.

In your signature you say you are in Derbyshire. But your avatar says Leicestershire.

Do you lead a double life? I think we have a right to be told.

Jason,

Let us know how you get on with this, will you? I've spent ages researching this. The other freeware stuff I found were pretty useless, whereas anything half decent seems to cost big dollars.

This Helpmaker thing seems pretty cool to me.

Default SPAM in the Wiki

Hi,

We're seeing some Spam, and a while ago we had a page deleted. All quickly put right but annoying.

I don't know much about the Wiki s/w - is there a way to only allow updates after a registered user has been validated in some way?

And Derbyshire vs Leicestershire... Hmmm well, the small town where we live, Kegworth, is right on the border of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.

Derbyshire Post Code, Leicestershire Taxes, Nottinghamshire policing.

So, a triple life rather than a double one :-)

Default Wierd Edits...

Have a look at this diff

http://www.cockos.com/wiki/index.php...093&oldid=4054

This is the second edit like this, a strange(ish) looking user-name and the last part of the page deleted. First one was in the FAQ page, yesterday's (June 4th's) was on the Effects page and made by Qa7Wfu. Both times the edit was the only change made to the Wiki by that user, as far as I can tell.

Ok, I've cleaned up the wiki and its user list to remove all this spam.

Also, from now on, the wiki account registrations are disabled. If you want an account to modify any page, just shoot me an email at "christophe at cockos.com" and I'll create you one.

Another boring task completed by the Cockos team! You'd think people would have better things to do than to stuff up our harmless wiki.

Yea great work Christophe.

I wonder: who did that handmade Cockos logo (tape and all that) on the wiki mainpage? It looks very attractive.

Would be great IMO to have a good and large picture of that on the Cockos mainpage. Funny enough it reminded me, because of the technique, of Mondrian's last painting (unfinished) which was set up in pieces of colored tape. It really looks good.

ok work will be resuming.

Tallisman has offered his assistance, although he is likely going to be busy, and I am going to update things with the help of the user guide, and some Jae-dry writing.

Anyone else who wants to join in, let me know, and soon.

I am starting college on tuesday, so ill be busy but not likely enough to hinder doing 1 page a day.

The REAPER HELP FILE is now available for download!

The wiki help pages are available bundled as a help file (with search and links to the live site)

I just created it "yesterday"

Get all the details and the file here:
================================================== =
Reaper Help File Updated! - Available for Download (Reaper_help.chm)
http://www.cockos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12780

I spent quite a bit of time trying to get it to look good.
I will recreate this once we have some more updates done.

Tod

You shouldn't need to be connected to the web. Although I haven't tested that...

hmm, did you "Unblock" the chm file as listed in the post below?
http://www.cockos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12780

Also check here.
http://www.cockos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9898

Make sure that the chm file is local (ie C:\ and not a network drive). I've heard of that causing issues...

Please let us know what you find.

I hope that helps.

hello again.
ok, i tried some things.
My pc is dualboot, linux and win. linux is on the net, win only tu get windows updates. i have no virus-scanner in windows, thats why i dont use it for internet.
last time i tried your wiki, i did a win update, so i had a internet connection. but all was blocked by a firewall (except the win update). the help file wants to get the wiki from the internet, but it was blocked, so the window was empty. after restart without network cable, all was fine, the help work normal.
next test: i started win again with network but before i started the help i opend MS internet explorer and set to " work offline ". firewall worked and blocked all. but the help worked fine.
I think, when a internet connection is possible the help wants to connect and wants to work online. if there is no internet connection, the ghelp works offline (local).

hope this helps....

max

Default Keyboard Shortcuts PDF's: Difference??

I dl'd both Keyboard Shortcuts doc's open'd both and can't see a diff. aside from file size. Is there something a quick look would miss?? seems pages start and end with same info.
Cheers,
MoodSwinger

PS. just tried printing and all good but no pg.6 (custom macros & shortcuts). doesn't come out even if I try to just print that page, is there some "protection" tick i'm missing?
