Alesis Multimix 8 and OS X 10.8

I have an Alesis Multimix 8 and I can't seem to get it operating in Reaper.

I downloaded the latest version of the drivers. Currently: v2.1.18
I am running Reaper version: v4.32
I've tried both 32bit and 64bit versions.

Clicking on the record primers just causes the program to go crazy, sometimes it crashes (hard) the Mac. The level bars just jump all around with no signal coming in and when I actually record the audio is extremely choppy.

Everything works fine in Garageband, so I'm wondering if I'm missing a step or a setting in Reaper.

Any one had similar troubles and can point me in the right direction?
