Default Alesis Q49 Issue OS X Lion: No Key Response

My Alesis Q49 USB Midi Controller has no 'key' response (latest Reaper DAW/OS X Lion w/latest updates). I get key response with Logic 9, but not with Reaper.

I plug in the keys, run Reaper and add an instrument track (4Front Piano). I verify in the options that the midi keyboard (Q49) is enabled (input/output) but when pressing the keys...no response. If I add another instrument track, same deal...no response. If I use the Image-Line Groove Machine in standalone (no DAW), the midi keyboard works too...Reaper DAW fails to communicate key responses.

Logic 9 gives me no issues. The Alesis Q49 did not come with a driver disc.
If anyone knows a fix I'd appreciate it.

SYSTEM: Macbook Air 13" i7 with latest Lion updates

Can you insert the Plugin JS: schwa/midi_examine before your piano to verify this isn't just a mid channel issue?
If this receives data then what does the channel No. say?

Default SOLVED

Thanks for all replies...

Here is the solution:

The instrument track has to be ARMED for recording,
next in the INPUT drop down list one has to assign the midi controller...

then you will get responses...I wish it were just 'plug and play' but
this is good enough for now.
