Default Concerto Tagi - (Modification of Blankfiles "Concerto")

Hey there,

I wanted to start a thread about the theme modification I made. The original theme is "Concerto" by Blankfiles (Forum-thread "Concerto" and Concerto on Reaper-Stash).

Download here:

https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/2453/C...ReaperThemeZip

Screenshot of my modification (may not include all recent changes, I'Ve made so far):

Here is the changelog so far:

First changes:
- MIDI notes in the arranger are now much brighter (unselected and selected)
- I made the odd and even track lanes have the same color

Update 2020-02-28:
- the grid lines on the measure start are brighter now

Update 2020-02-29:
- beats in the MIDI editor slightly brighter
- selection in the MIDI editor is smoother and fits the overall selection color

Update 2020-03-03:
- changed editing guide line color to something more visible
- the grid lines on the measures, beats etc. are now darker

Update 2020-03-04:
- further changed the inbetween grid line brightness a bit

Update 2020-03-11:
- brighter media item label
- brighter edges of grouped media items
- darker media item fader/volume controls
- darkened the media item selection
- brightened selected tracks a bit

Update 2020-03-12:
- changed timeline font a bit
- changed editing guide line color
- the edit cursor is now brighter and the play cursors has a color
- the time selection area has a slight color and is consistent in color in the MIDI editor as well
- selected tcp is brighter
- bypassed FX are darker now
- tcp label font is a bit bigger now

Update 2020-03-14:
- With the help of amagalmas Script "Adjust theme colors" (thank you, amagalma!) I brightened the overall theme a bit. IMPORTANT: now the PNG elements of the theme are not 100% correct in color anymore. It might look a tiny bit off now. I'll see, if I will adjust every PNG as well in the future!

Update 2020-03-24:
- The minimum height of a track is a tiny bit smaller now. Maybe even smaller tracks will be possible in the future ... I have to look into this.

Update 2020-03-25:
- fixed and organized the rtconfig.txt a bit
- tracks can now be even smaller! (yay)

Update 2020-03-30:
- changed arrangement of TCP; especially in other sizes (in the end the mute and solo buttons do not jump anymore and stay consistent throughout the design now)
- changed the TCP selection background colors to make it look more smooth
- cleaned up the TCP theme area in the theme file (was a bit messy there)
- fix: the input FX are now visible

Update 2020-04-05:
- Added layouts for hiding the "glogbal automation" button in the transport bar
- Improved the grid-enable button
- Made the transport buttons a bit more responsive for narrow screens
- Changed the IO graphic to make it look less busy and aligned the texts
- Darkened the "Window edit background" a bit
- Almost redesigned the whole mixer:
-> Cleaned the MCP rtconfig code
-> Changed colors and design for selected MCP channels a bit
-> Empty FX inserts in the MCP do have a graphic now, this making it more obvious that it is an insert slot
-> Also removed the "FX" from the empty FX inserts area - it should be obvious that this area is the FX section (I hope)
-> Brightened the inner of the meters to make the area even with now meter output clearly visible as a meter with meaning
-> Meter-lines are not "burned" anymore into the background image; instead it uses the Reaper readout lines now
-> Fixed the overall responsivity, almost pixel perfect on a full HD screen, at least
-> Fixed some MCP graphics, which had no "non-stretch markers" (the pink in the graphics)
-> "BIG MASTER" Layout inherits from the default one; no new graphics anymore
-> Slight folder indentation added

Update 2020-04-06:
- Grid button improved again
- pan knob is now centered, if no width knob exists
- Changed label colors a bit
- Darkened selected TCP white area a bit
- MCP folder indentation is now like in the Reaper v6 theme
- Removed input from the MCP
- Adjusted the "Auto" text

Update 2020-04-14:
- Piano keys are now dark

Update 2020-04-15:
- Added "SEPARATOR" MCP layouts

Update 2020-05-14:
- Added the new TCP Layouts "Alternative TCP" and "Alternative MCP"
-> these layouts have a non-gradient selection indication
-> and they have the track color instead of just the bright area underneath the track label

I like this theme very much, like your modification very much too.
Will there be any efforts to make this so that we can use it with v6 theme editor?

Will download the updated version now and give it a spin!

Hey David,

thanks, I'm glad that you like my modifications of the Concerto theme. So far I have not planned to add a tweaker-script for this theme (AFAIK the Reaper v6 theme editor is just a script for the theme). At the moment I am quite glad that I managed to do all the changes I've made so far, haha. I am rather new to Reaper (switched only some weeks ago) and now the theming is also rather new to me.

Excellent! So far on first look my only comment would be the 'auto' text looks a little far away from icon?

I just want to publicly thank Tagirijus. I sent him a huge list of things that bothered my about the theme via email. He's addressed just about everything on that list.

Thanks for all your hard work!

hello I write from Italy, your theme for me is the most beautiful that exists but in my opinion an important thing is missing, the possibility of creating separators, will you expand this change?

I'm glad you like the theme. For the TCP there is already the "SEPARATOR" layout. Simply right-click a track, chose "Track layout" > "Track Panel" > "SEPARATOR".

I just added separators for the MCP layout as well in three different sizes. Hope this is what you wanted!

Hey, just wanted to let you know I've been using the theme for the past month or two for real work (I released a song using only this theme). Everything has been working really intuitively for me.

I have one minor request stylistic request, although this may be something you don't want to change. It's all super picky, and I can live without it if you don't want to adjust it. I don't really like the way that selected tracks just become a grey. Could you instead make it so that it takes the color of the track and makes it brighter instead? The idea is that you could still see that it's selected, but the way it's colored still comes through clearly.

And the other thing, I'm not a huge fan of gradients in the UI. Could the gradient that goes over the selected tracks be tuned down a bit, or maybe removed and have it color the entire area? I would imagine that this could take some experimentation to make it look good, while still providing the clarity that is currently there.

I've attached an image so hopefully you can see what I'm talking about.

Thanks for your awesome work!

Actually I already made some teste the days back then and something did not quite work or look good, I am not sure at the moment. I will put it on my To-Do list to maybe come up with an alternative layout or so. No promise, since at the moment I also have other priorities.

Hehe, the original did not have a gradient, but to me this worked better like I changed it. I will see what I can do. I'll put it on my list as well to at least test it.

Sorry for my late reply anbd thanks for your feedback!

I just updated the theme and I was able (luckily) to embed your changes. Not only both, but also in a "non-destructive" way, yeah! You have to choose the "Alternative TCP/MCP" layouts for the TCP and / or MCP to have the new changes you wanted.

I hope it is like you wished for.

Thanks man! You always deliver!

And non destructive is good. It's always helpful for people to have options.
