Default ReaDelay feedback - overlapping iterations?

Maybe my ears are fooling me (wouldn't be the first time), but it seems that when I use ReaDelay with feedback for a repeating echo, the repeats do not overlap; the current repetition cuts off as soon as the next one begins.

Am I correct that this is how ReaDelay behaves? If so, how can I get the feedback repetitions to overlap each other? Do I need to use multiple taps for this?

Thanks!

Hello , I checked with a file because you put me some doubts , but with the default settings,on my config, the repetitions do overlap, so i don't know what differs from your settings maybe send a snapshot to see the differences?

Not sure exactly what you mean but I haven't always found the timing to be as tight as it should.

For me they are overlapping. It ofc depends on the signal you are sending through it (if it's a clap/snare/hi-hat or whatever that's shorter than the repeat time they will obviously not overlap), but it seems to work just fine for me.

Here's a quick test I did with ReaSynth and ReaDelay where you can see that the different repeats overlap.

This is only pure sinewaves at very high frequencies, so not a real application of ReaDelay, but I can clearly hear overlapping repeats when I use ReaDelay with vocals, guitars and more realistic synth patches.

Set feedback to 0db. You’ll hear it “overlap”. Until automute kicks in.

Just confirming what everyone else has said ...

I set up ReaDelay with a 1/8 repeat, and feedback set to -0.1 dB. Then I played a major scale one time through, using 1/8 notes.

It was very clear that all previous repeats continued playing when a new repeat started. By the time it got to the 7th repeat, it was just a cacophony of all the notes from the previous repeats that were still playing:

Code:
Original : C D E F G A B C
1st Repeat : C D E F G A B C
2nd Repeat : C D E F G A B C
3rd Repeat : C D E F G A B C
4th Repeat : C D E F G A B C
5th Repeat : C D E F G A B C
6th Repeat : C D E F G A B C
7th Repeat : C D E F G A B C
I changed the ReaDelay delay time to 1/4 note, so that the harmony stacked up in thirds, and it was actually more evident (to my ears) that the repeats overlapped. Once it reached the 3rd repeat, it started alternating between the chords CM7 (C E G B) and Dm7 (D F A C) over and over:

Code:
Original : C D E F G A B C
1st Repeat : C D E F G A B C
2nd Repeat : C D E F G A B C
3rd Repeat : C D E F G A B C
4th Repeat : C D E F G A B C
5th Repeat : C D E F G A B C
6th Repeat : C D E F G A B C
7th Repeat : C D E F G A B C
