Good to see you're here and i'm loving this first draft you'r showing us in this picture.. wonderfull i'm sure its gonna kick ass, a big Fan of your work.. keep it hot and bring it on as soon as its done..!!
i'm loving reaper. i've been doing alot of reading up and research on the way it works and what the various buttons/click-targets do so that the theme can be designed in a way that's very easy to use.
i dont like how small they are there with that effect.
this first skin is likely going to be a learning curve skin, future skins will be better because i'll already learn how to best leverage reapers minimalism for maximum effect.
new project = lightning bolt
open project = folder with arrow up
save = disk
properties = checks and switches control
undo = UNDO text
redo = REDO text
metronome = 1234 text
auto crossfade = X over envelopes overlapping
item grouping = two boxes with chainlink overtop
ripple editing = ))) waves (similar to current)
lock envelopes = lock icon with automation triangle (like transport)
grid = bars (like current)
snap = arrow right bar arrow left (like current)
locking = lock (like current)
record monitoring off = simple speaker shape (dimmed)
record monitoring on = simple speaker shape (lit)
record monitoring auto = simple speaker shape with a small tape on top
folder off = similar to current (dimmed)
folder on = similar to current (lit)
folder is last = similar to current but with overlay of J arrow (like linefeed)
folder compact = folder with down arrow
folder hide = folder with red slash through it
hardware options = screwdriver
track envelopes = automation /\ with bezier spline
fx off = similar to current (dimmed)
fx on = similar to current (lit)
fx on/off buttons = similar to current (diff font maybe)
phase normal = p
phase inverted = b
mute = M
solo = S
recording mode input = "in" (in a box with higher contrast)
recording mode output = "out" (in a box with higher contrast)
the main thing is some of the defaults are good, but not good on a dark theme like this.
thanks. i tried to make automation mode useful by showing L for latch, T for touch, green for read and red with no L or T for write.
makes sense?
for sure it does. I think the only that ruins your screenshot above are the orignal reaper icons that are in there hehe... otherwise, its starting to look dead sexy.

thanks jay.
check out the windows color scheme. it really makes a difference for the full DAW consistent look.
in the wincolors zip file there is 3DCC.exe which is a 3D color changer executable. simply unzip this stuff to a temp directory, open 3DCC.exe (scan it first if you like but it's clean), then choose the gj_blackmagic.3DCC from the Options button: Scheme | Load, and hit apply.
save your existing windows colorscheme first if you want to revert via windows, by using desktop | properties | themes | save..
it could be a cool feature for themes to detect a colorscheme for windows somehow, like maybe 3DCC support or something. i'm sure Justin has seen/heard of 3D color changer before (it's one of the few color changers that let you at the fiddly bits that microsoft doesn't) since he's the kingpin originator of skinable apps.
what you think Justin? is this possible for future? bundling windows colors with the colorschemes?
any plans to implement wsz (like winamp) bundles with reaper? for fonts, windows colors, buttons, etc, so it's a matter of doubleclicking on the RSZ and it's magically applied like winamp?

I get a window that says;
3d Color Changer 3000 not properly installed. Reinstall .....
Any Idea what I am doing wrong?
I cant wait till this is all together. Its perfect for a prog called REAPER.
Solar,
Re-read his first post, dude. He's been updating it, and he uploaded a Zip of his theme plus a font.
DL it, unzip it, copy the .theme file and UI folder into C:\program files\reaper\color themes, then copy the font file into c:\windows\fonts. Restart Reaper, and you should find the new theme as an option.
hope this helps...
tj
