I downloaded Reaper last weekend. Before that I had been learning Acid Pro for a couple months. I had also dabbled with LMMS and used Musescore for composition. So I'm really learning everything while learning Reaper.
And it is a joy to learn! The Kenny G tutorials are amazing. I've gone from just applying a cathedral preset (in Sound Forge Pro) to learning about and playing with impulse files, with per track tweaks, as just one example. My stuff just sounds better.
This forum is also very helpful and friendly. I like the community. Thank you all for making this the place that it is. And I haven't even installed anything past vanilla Reaper yet!
Are there any extensions that are suggested for beginners?
Yes install both of those for a full Reaper experience. And don't be afraid, they don't change anything about what you might be used to; they just add more possibilities.
Hi mek42. Nice to hear a positive take (no pun intended!) on the Reaper learning curve. I don't think you will run out of opportunities for that btw in a hurry. I usually come away from a Kenny video with a new idea even if it is not always applicable to my needs. And then v6 is on its way...
Yeah, the more I learn Reaper, the more I'm impressed, seems like anything you would want to do there is a way to do it. Kenny's videos are also fantastic and the organization on the Video page is great
