Re: Reacomp thread at kvr
no, not the senseless crap that has gone on there by the likes of typical kvrists --
but this post
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewto...402356#2402356
Justin, are there going to be some improvements to reacomp in the future?
such as "wet/dry knob" (i thought we had those controls in sliders already) or a "brickwall limiter" ????

in short: it's one of the greatest comps out there, i stated this earlier in this thread somwhere, and in the original thread ...
the only thing that is missing is a brickwall and a dry/wet knob, etc ... deadbeef (i believe he has something to do with the development, too) was make me growing i hope, asking for detailled info's on how i want this to be implemented in particular, but then never got back to me ... dunno, maybe it happens/has happened already? i don't know the development stage at this point, just recovering from a big headcrash of my studiomachine ... :/

I think some of the KVR'ists are going to criticize Reaper no matter what.
For me stability is the issue and it does that.
Once I get to used to the keyboard shortcuts and make my controller CMlabs Motormix work like it does in Protools, I am set.
Reacomp is great, it has dry and wet control and one can set the comp-ratio to infinite then it's a limiter

The poster didn't want simply a limiter, he wanted to be able to apply compression as usual, and then have a brick wall at the very end of the internal routing, to catch overs or whatever.
Makes pretty good sense, actually. Might be a good idea.
Cheers.

man, i just trudged thru that entire thread... actually, after getting a feel for a few of the... umm... more abusive posters, i skipped a bit here and there.
I'm starting to understand why KVR has the rep it does. not pleasant at all.
Shame, really, 'cause some of those guys really know their stuff!
just ask 'em.
EDIT: Empty! great avatar!

The KVR post about reacomp got a little ugly....I have only had issues with 2-3 people over there. 97% of the time the people I have contact with are very helpful and nice. I guess that is what "mute" is for. I am glad Justin put these out there so I can use them in my other host!

I see your point but we have a hard limiter as Jesusonic plugin as well
It can be implemented after a compressor.
My worry is that by adding to many bells and whistles, Reaper may become too big like Sonar or Cubase

so a hard limiter in a compressor is going to cause REAPER to get bloated?
wow.
lol

I think its more important for the VST plug, since we dont know how the host will handle the next stage
With REAPER's 64 bit path, who cares?

I was just thinking that! A limiter in ReaComp be fine for me. Personally though, I don't mind adding a JS or VST limiter after ReaComp. ReaComp is simply the best compressor I have ever used! This is akin to the people on this forum wanting eq controls on the TCP, I ENJOY that they are not on the TCP, and that I can add TONS of built in JS effects, and create my own custom chain.
