Default 'Playing" Midi in Real Time on the same file

Howdy

I'm trying to get this to work here LOL… Please be patent…

OK… So I'm using ez drummer… I'm trying to 'play' my own drum parts using a keyboard… I have set up the tracks and channels with EZ drummer and a midi controller etc.. Everything plays fine. So I lay down ride cymbal on a midi file… It plays fine…

Now I want to play along with that by tapping a tom drum or snare etc… But when I try this it creates a new take… I don't want that… I just want all these parts on the same midi file.. It works if I 'draw' the items in the piano roll… But I want to play along with it because on this certain track I didn't use a metronome and it gets out of time etc…

I'm a real newbie to computer recording and especially midi and see how powerful it can be…

Do I have a setting wrong or something?

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

Right Click on the Arm button, scroll down and select Record MIDI: overdub/replace>Record MIDI: overdub.
