Default Which is the Airwindows equivalent to JS: Saturation?

What are the Airwindows equivalents? Minimal controls, lowest cpu possible, one plugin for even harmonics, one plugin for odd harmonics. Simple.

I don't run these on every channel, I probably use about 5 instances of each on every project. I like JS Saturation on percussion especially kick/snare while Alberto PG's plugin sees regular use on instruments and vocals.

I really want to use some of the Airwindows stuff because of the minimalism, this Chris guy is literally one in 8 billion.

I know PurestDrive is based on odd harmonics (I think) so I should start there. I don't want to use anything IR based either. Trying to keep CPU hit to a minimum here.

JS Saturation is sin(x).
iirc AW Density is basically the same thing.
Spiral and Single Ended Triode are also based on sin(x).
Probably others, too, but those are the ones I know off hand.

I know in Alberto PG's valve pre he uses sin for odd harmonics and cos for even, so is there anything cos based?

I haven't used the one you mention, but ToTape5, Pafnuty (independent odd and even harmonics) and Spiral2 are all great for getting pleasant saturation on your tracks.

I don’t know if any AW saturation are based on (or incorporate) cos(x), but SET and hard vacuum are asymmetric.
I just know a few of the older plugins of his, I haven’t tried any in a while.

I'm having trouble seeing how that works. Just doing the cosine of the input pretty much turns the waveform inside out. It's kind cool if you're into horrible noises. Using cosine as a gain factor - x cos (x) - is not significantly different from just taking the sine, once scaled properly.

In all cases, these functions need the input hard clipped first in order to keep from folding over.

Edit - After actually looking at JS Saturation, I think it's important to point out that it is actually adding gain at any time that the Amount slider is greater than 0.

I tried PurestDrive today, and this thing is incredible. You can tell it saturates what it needs to saturate, introducing a wet/dry blend for lower and higher frequencies.

It's the most transparent saturation tool ever, this is replacing both my JS fx from now on.

Another little thing, this brings things forward in a natural rich way with NO compromise on clarity. A nice tool to get a few more RMS here and there I'm sure.

Tomorrow I'm going to try out Spiral, what's it like? Most people seem to be putting it on the master buss, what's it like on instruments? I understand his stuff can be super subtle!

I really like minimalistic one or two dial for saturation.

Try Spiral2 on bass. It's hard to describe, but very noticeable and rich distortion as you crank it.
