Default REAPER RECORDING ERROR MESSAGE

Hello anyone whos out there reading this. I bought the license for reaper about a week ago and have set everything up to start recording. I have been able to record my tracks just fine and everything has been working great up until today. I armed a track on a new project, and I got an error message saying "Can't write to record files, does the directory exist" What do I do? Ive tried everything i can for about an hour now and still i cannot record anything. PLEASE help.

Yes there is. Even if you eg. have inserted a track without recording anything, the project state has changed and can be saved.

However, you should go to "Options -> Preferences -> Paths" and enter default paths, so that Reaper knows, where to save files, if no path is given yet on a new project.

HTH

^What Data said, the default recording paths have to both exist and be writeable, if they aren't you'll get that exact error when trying to record.

However, if you Save As the project first, the files will be saved there which also likely bypasses the issue but it is still best to make sure the default paths are correct and working.

Ok I'm gonna reveal my secret to making hit albums in Reaper.

Double click Reaper icon. Load my Template. Hit Save As and save it. I also click the checkbox in the save as dialog box to make a folder when saving.
