Action to toggle collapse folder in mixer?
Hi, I have been looking through the actions list, I can't find an action to toggle collapsing selected folder tracks in the mixer view. I can find it for TCP, but not MCP.
Does anything like that exist anywhere? Would be really useful for me.
thanks in advance.

No folder collapsing actions for the MCP, afaik. I have couple of custom actions to collapse folders both in TCP and MCP:
Custom: Collapse selected folders
SWS: Save current track selection
SWS: Set selected folder(s) collapsed
SWS: Select only children of selected folders
SWS: Hide selected track(s) from MCP
SWS: Restore saved track selection
Custom: Uncollapse selected folders
SWS: Save current track selection
SWS: Set selected folder(s) uncollapsed
SWS: Select only children of selected folders
SWS: Show selected track(s) in MCP
SWS: Restore saved track selection

Ok here's a follow up question:
I'm using this action to collapse all folders in the mixer (which translates to my control surface)
Mixer: Toggle show tracks in folders in Mixer
But the new custom actions above don't work after using this action to collapse the folders. Any ideas why, any ways around that?
The goal being to collapse all the folders when I want to, and open/expand one or more folders at a time when I want to...by adding button presses to these functions.

Hi xpander, this is great, thanks! Do you (or anyone else) know if it's possible to turn this into a cycle action so both actions can be assigned to one command, and it just toggles the state?

I tried making a cycle action of these, but since these actions don't report their toggle state, it wasn't possible.

Sorry to wake this old thread up but there's a flaw with the "Uncollapse Selected Folders" custom action in that, if any of the tracks in a collapsed folder happen to be previously hidden from the MCP (using the Track Manager), then those tracks are also 'uncollapsed' and made visible in the MCP :-(
When collapsing and uncollapsing MCP folders by clicking the in-built Reaper button, this flaw does not occur.

That's the unfortunate side effect with these custom actions because MCP does not have specific collapse/uncollapse actions. What I had to do for the MCP is simply to hide/show the child tracks. So on my part that behavior is intentional and it doesn't indeed work if you have hidden tracks which you want to keep hidden.

Hello to the wonderful Reaper community ! (This is my first message on this forum)
I just discovered by accident a very useful script allowing to link TCP & MCP folder collapsed state (mpl_Link TCP MCP folder collapsed state).
Added to a toolbar (or assigned to a shortcut) and combined with the script mpl_Toggle between normal and supercollapsed folder state (in toolbar or with shortcut), this toggle type command gives great results !

The script mentioned in my previous message eventually revealed not to work like expected...
The following custom action I created (and assigned to my main toolbar) works for me (it toggles selected MCP folders between closed and developped state) :
Code:
SWS: Save current tracks selection
SWS: Select children for selected folder track(s)
SWS: Set selected folder(s) collapsed
Mixer: Show/hide children of selected tracks
SWS: Restore saved track selection
