Default Trying to change VU meter colors, no luck.

Hi I just want to change the meters color using the theme editor in the default theme but no matter what I do the colors stay green... I could make them interlace but no more.

Any hits how to do this?

not in the theme editor...

you have to change the png file for meters... and there will be more than one that a theme uses [most likely]...

you will need photoshop or something like it to do the changes.

Like everything in Reaper, always lots of ways to do stuff. Hopi's suggestion is you edit the graphic files themselves(meter_strip_v.png and meter_strip_h.png) using something like Photoshop, and my way you just comment the files out and use the Theme Editor (easier for hacks like me ;-), but always nice to have options for all.

Youmean I delete those files in order to be able to color the meters with just the theme editor?

yes, that is exactly right. IF they are there then the theme uses them, if they are NOT there then the theme defaults to the theme editor for the colors. Personally, I don't actually delete them, just delete the '.png' extension so the theme does not know they are image files and if you ever want to go back to the original theme you can just add the file extension back in. No harm either way.

better still, rename to xxxxxxx.png.OFF

easy to find later if you need them

still IMO, better to do it 'right' and just alter the png files.

Thanks. Did what you said and now I can colorize the VU meters with the theme editor.
