Default v5.983 REALLY slow to draw item waveforms on import

Hi all,
Anyone else noticed this?
I've been away on holidays for 3 weeks. Come home and switched on my machine, and was immediately prompted to accept the Windows update, and then Reaper wanted to update as well.
Did both of those.
And I've just imported a 75 min audio file into a session. This would normally take my machine about 4-5 seconds to generate the waveform.
In this instance, it took it well over a minute!
Don't know if this is affecting everyone, or just me.
And if it's just me, whether it's going to be an ongoing problem.

Windows 10 Home (with the April 2019 update)
AMD Ryzen 2700X
32GB RAM
NVidia GTX1050 Ti 3GB graphics card
Samsung EVO850 SSD (OS)

No, spectral peaks not turned on, and like I said, this is much slower than normal (for my machine).
Don't know what's changed. Guess I'll just have to keep exploring.

What disk is it on (SSD, HD, connected via USB or SATA etc?) -- How long does it take to copy the file off the disk (when it is not yet in cache obviously)?
