Default 3.52 OSX export as AVI?

Ive been told (in another thread) that 3.52 now exports as an AVI, if your using video in a project with a new soundtrack, you can do basic editing in Reaper, add music and export as 1 file (ie: AVI)

I can't see in Render, the AVI option?

Anyone?

I have exported avi with codec MJPG.
I dont have my mac here but I'll try to remember:
In the render dialog go to "type of file", you will see Video (FFmpeg).
Then select the codec (some work some dont depending, I guess, on you FFmpeg installation).

good luck

There are so many codecs over the web its hard to know which one?

Can you give me a link to the one that works with Intel Macs and Reaper OSX that would allow me to render out movie/audio as one AVI file (all in Reaper)?

Thanks

I dont seem to be getting this at all?

I have 3.52 on OSX and have downloaded the FFmpeg.dylib and placed it in :

<home folder>/Library/Application Support/REAPER/UserPlugins

But I can’t seem to see any render options for video??

I have rebooted and still nothing - even though under Preferences>Media> I have
‘disable FFMpeg decoding (unticked)

I have been directed to the page : http://cockos.com/wiki/index.php/Video_Support
But under “Rendering Video” section, I dont know where to look for that page/box shown that looks like it comes from Reaper??!

Is this on the Render project page?

As mentioned I have an mp4 (from Handbrake) and have added music to some edited DVD video within Reaper (just cuts really) so would really like to export this as one file of both audio AND video, as an AVI?

Can anyone help?

Exactly the same as mine, even after the dylib file is in the correct place..

Can't see any video options in that drop down list??

So, I downloaded the 'ffmpeg' files for my PC and moved those to the correct folder there. I transferred the session that I was working on from my Mac to my PC and - all works well there! That's great and all, but it'd be awesome if I DIDN'T have to do that every time I want to render a video!

Anyone have success rendering video on Mac?

Importing and rendering video works perfectly for me on both Reaper OSX 3.52 and 3.53pre5.

Retested with a fresh install of Reaper, no problems. My OSX 10.6.3. is a fresh install, which sometimes affects these kind of things.

My Reaper is installed in Applications/Audio/, and I put the ffmeg dylib where advised.

HI

I too have tested this on 10.6.3 and it shows the video option in the render settings. Interestingly, I have not yet installed the FFmpeg library, yet the option still shows. Has this got anything to do with Perian being installed?

However on 10.5.8 (different machine) I don't get the options for video render either. FFmpeg is installed, Perian is NOT.

I'm not too sure how to narrow this down

cheers

Yes on 10.5.8 here an no video options?

Not sure what is Perian??? - is this something i should install?

I think I'm just waiting for v3.53 hopefully will Iron all this out?

Desperate to get some finished own vids rendered out, as now have done some basic video editing in the Reaper timeline along with audio, so waiting on Reaper really...

Glad I didnt dive in and use Reaper (video) with a tight project...

Its kind of a swiss army knife of codecs in one installer. Give it a go i rekon.

Has this been logged as a bug, or has a developer noted this?

:-/ er umm i kind of have. I think in the meantime i'll just export the audio and slap it together in imovie. I just got sick of Live crashing when using video and frankly i was just waiting for Reaper to support video. I kind of think its pretty cool

cheers

No i haven't logged any bug? Can i do this or someone do it? (didnt know you could do that as im just getting into Reaper... ;o)

I will try that codec too.. thanks - it maybe an overlooked problem on Reapers part with 10.5 on a Mac, as I can see that 10.6 seems to be working?

I think Reaper will be great as a mini video editor - I have had some trouble with the video 'catching up' and have to replay start/stop to get the video to follow which is annoying, but again I hope they iron this out in 3.53.

Buckman,
I recommend you to install vlc:

https://videolan.org/vlc/

you will have one of the best video player (for free) and probably your problem will be solved.

Not tried the pre-release, but will give that video codec a go next week...

Whats in the pre-release, thats not in the full newer version?

Im thinking that updates are soo fast around here that I may wait for the full 3.53?

(also how do i create a log of this problem - is it to put in another forum?)

Thanks
