How to edit a recorded track?

I have just begun to record my guitar (strat instrumentals for now) and I am happy with the result given I am a newbie.

I record in one take atm so getting it perfect means lots of run-throughs.

I don't expect anyone to give me a lesson on editing, but I would appreciate some pointers as to which videos would help me edit my one-take recordings.

I have spent quite some time watching the excellent Reaper video tutorials and am a bit overwhelmed at the minute, but my question is:

Which are the best resources I need to look at for the purpose of editing a recorded track?

It appears to me that I need to spend time more time with video tutorials about Comping, takes, and punches?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
