I wanted to test this but now REAPER it's totally hanging on start... no project loaded, I suspect is something in my monitoring FX chain window settings

EDIT: I took a dump, it's here.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/161R...ew?usp=sharing

I guess it's lost in a loop trying to adjust something while some rogue plugin is fighting against, the cpu is working but REAPER never completes loading...

Further information: the "offending" plugin that makes REAPER hang is DSoniq Realphones.
It worked in all previous REAPER versions I tried, though I already noticed it did strange flickering when resizing the FX chain panel.

In this pre the plugin - and REAPER - never load.
I tried:

- removing it from its folder -> REAPER loads
- offlining it (possible even if the plugin was not found) and reloading REAPER -> REAPER loads
- restoring the VST file -> REAPER loads because the plugin is now offlined

Then any attempt to add a new plugin instance (no matter in monitoring fx or normal track) results in REAPER hanging.

If interested there's a free trial available at dsoniq.com.
The dev is responsive, I already contacted him a couple of times and even wrote him about the fx chain resize artifacts, before discovering it was not only affecting his plugin (but the flickering was only on it though).

And... VST2 version at least loads, even though it again make strange things when resizing (wrong size after REAPER restart, broken popup menus etc.). VST3 completely hangs instead.

Thanks,
Mario

Rather than showing the 'you're using the wrong theme' warning, the Default6 Theme Adjuster will now show so you can use, on any theme, its global setting page (the gamma etc controls) and its custom colour page.

Easy Theme Adjuster enhancement of any theme...

The Default6 Theme Adjuster will also spawn sliders for up to 10 parameters in any theme on a third page, all that theme needs to do is add some 'define_parameter' lines in its WALTER and then use them just like any other scalar variable (h,w,folderdepth etc.)

The default 5 theme now has new layouts for TCP (Standard + Theme adjuster) and MCP (Strip + Theme Adjuster) that use this functionality, with instructions in its rtconfig.

question, those of us who have tweaked the default theme have created our own copies of the Theme Adjuster script, eg "mccrabney theme adjuster.lua"

should we discontinue our own copied versions of this script and instead use the original Theme Adjuster?

It's aleatory.

Yeah sadly this pre is worse as far as reliability and accuracy of FX chain windows, I had to revert to 1023 temporarily.

Thanks White Tie. Any plans for adding new options to the theme adjuster? And will we see more (hdpi) improvements in the default 6 theme in the foreseeable future?

No, don't do that anyway, but also this change is for the benefit of any theme that doesn't already have its own theme adjuster script. See what I mean?

What options did you have in mind? It already fully meets Reaper's HiDPI capabilities.

4k / 1080p etc are not your HiDPI setting. Some people run a 4k screen at 100%, some people run a 1080p screen at 150%. Reaper sees it all as just pixels; the HiDPI setting is what it multiplies by, and is set by your operating system not your screen.

Good call, I have mine set on 4k @150÷. I will try at other percentages and report tomorrow

Ouch, I didn't know that expression... what was the more proper way to describe what I actually did then?

What changed here? I'm not noticing any difference in the way sends are shown in the default theme's TCP between this and the release version
