@schwa, some loops don't get recognized (bpm), for whatever reason. The naming scheme seems to be the same, though. I'll forward you another bunch for testing purposes.

# MIDI editor: fix hit testing for mouse modifiers to erase or reset note velocitye
Notes that are smack bang at the item start aren't recognized, neither erased or reset.

Just noticed that they won't save/load correctly with the project, but that's fixed for the next build.

sounds great but I can't find the way to activate it properly in order to reset velocity with a single click.
BTW an option to get rid of the drop down menu that comes after a single right click in the velocity lane and in the piano roll will be nice. i've never used this drop down menu in the last 10 years.
using right single click with other actions will be much more useful for me.
another option wish is that the edit cursor will not move after a single left click in the velocity lane

Seems to work as expected here with the "(reset velocity to default)" mouse modifier. With the "(set new default velocity)" mouse modifier there will be no apparent effect, as the new default velocity will be set to the clicked velocity.

Maybe it is just me, but I don't understand where is the dedicated velocity modifier context yet.
anyway I tried all the 3 to reset to default velocity with a click and didn't work, not with right and not with left (+alt)

If you want to delete/reset velocity events immediately on clicking them, you'll have to use the MIDI CC event context. That context is for click/drag actions that start on an event; the CC lane context is for actions that start away from events.

you can see in the gif that I also set alt+left click to reset to default, but it doesn't work for a click as you can see in the gif.

Thanks for the Apple Loops support and improved REX support (one of two of my v4 ME REX requests).
Btw the other request was to optionally show and snap to the slices when previewing REX/Apple Loop files. Could be useful.

Minor Annoyance
When REAPER is not playing and restored from a minimized state the arrange view area goes black, then after a very short delay its drawn again and looks normal.

Dropping a media file (only tested WAV) from Windows Explorer into arrange view does not display the item until REAPER is the focused application again. Same happens when using WM_COPYDATA from 3rd party app.
Note, if REAPER is playing when items are added then the items are seen instantly as expected.
Win10/x64

Reaper5984+dev1016_linux_x86_64
Crash with this pre-release that doesn't happen with official version 5.984 (prior to this pre-release cycle). I didn't try Reaper5984+dev101 5_linux_x86_64, so I don't know if that also has this issue.
Steps:
-Open Reaper and play a WAV file in the project (using WAV file at same sample rate of project, no resampling is happening).
-Stop playback.
-Minimize window or just make another window focused (browser, notepad, terminal, etc.)
-Click on Reaper window again to bring it into focus. Crash to desktop happens.
Output of GDB:
Code:
$ gdb reaper -ex 'set pagination off' -ex run -ex bt -ex quit

Inferior 1 [process 9037] will be killed.
Quit anyway? (y or n) y
(The segmentation fault line happens right after switching back to Reaper.)
I tried this in Xubuntu versions 19.10 beta as well as 19.04 (both with lowlatency kernel), on two different systems with different CPU/audio hardware/mainboard/RAM (etc.) Both systems don't crash when using 5.984, but do when using this pre-release.
I also removed everything from the userplugins folder (ReaPack, SWS, etc.) just in case before doing that crash report above.
If there's anything else you'd like me to test, let me know.

Yep, also coming to post about the crashing.
Happens whenever Reaper is minimized/loses focus and I try to bring it back.
No error or hanging, it just vanishes.

Having slices previewed in Media Explorer would be very cool! And also if we could select slices at will and drag&drop them to the project... interesting possibilities!

"samples" is cut off a bit.
LSB value in 14-bit CC event properties is still not visible.
Also if you'll notice, the "Value:" text label is not centered well against the value field to the right of it.
Please devs, let's bring some order into the dialog layouts

I can minimize and bring back Reaper window at will in regular conditions, but following will make Reaper crash to desktop every time here:
1. Insert one track, insert an audio media file into it.
2. Toggle spectrogram on.
3. Minimize Reaper window.
4. Bring Reaper window back.
Reaper window will open but most of the areas are black. Screen will stay like this for a while, then crash to desktop.

Reaper crashes all the time here, too. It happens consistently at least when Kontakt´s Gui is open on a project (not a particularly busy one, by the way) and I open the Control Panel of the Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 interface.

I thought I did, the .txt file is attached to my post. Can you tell me what you're looking for and I can try to get it for you. =) I can state that the 1015 build doesn't have this crash issue when launching an external editor.

I'd assume schwa means the audio file you were trying to open when it crashed.

That is what I meant, but the problem should be fixed in the current +dev1017 build, anyway.
