OK, looks like we might need a special build for Catalina, will dig into it further.

Default CSI Configuration Files Website

I've uploaded all the files that were given to me and created Blog Posts for each version of each Controller Files.

Will need to spend some time filling out the descriptions and getting any contact info regarding the authors (if they want to be contacted) And also linking to either the Post on Reaper Forums that discusses these or anything else that is important about that setup.

https://siniarch.wixsite.com/csiconfigfiles

If you have contributed any of these CSI Config files and would like to do a write up about what you created and PM it to me, I can post it on the web site for future users to benefit from your knowledge.

Thanks. Now I just need to find out which of these work with the latest CSI and if anyone else has created layouts or spreadsheets for the button configurations. Some of the controllers have that already, but most don't.

It would be nice if I could also have the exact Istallation version of CSI that each of these controller files were made with. So those downloading them know to install a specific version of CSI and can download that version from the same location.

This is great.

Zone files for all the plugins are coming too, right?. I have a few I can send for the C4.

I wasn't sure if plugin zone files are specific to the controllers or if they are independent of them? (I haven't mapped plugins much)

Some of these zone files have pluging zone file. I believe one of the MIDI Figter Twister had a bunch of plugins mapped.

If they are not tied to the controllers, then yes, I can easily make a plugin section and have all the zone files shared there.

I don't have any C4 config files. So send those as well.

You can email me at: siniarch@gmail.com and just write on subject "CSI Configuration"

It would also have the creator's name and if they wished, an email to contact them.

I can maintain this site if people like and host the files on my server, but if people don't feel comfortable with that, they can also host the files themselves, and I can link to them as well.

Eventually, we can also add the FX mappings available for each surface as well.

I created a quick WIX site that shows the intent. Let me know if you guys think this is a good idea and people think it's worth pursuing.

MixMonkey, would you be able to post your XT files (if you have them)? I'm trying to see how I can get the signal lights on the XT to work in the same way as the MCU.

After much consideration, the decision has been made to remove the Edit/Learn Mode window.

The development effort is just not worth the time since:

1) In order to be useful for casual users, an extreme amount of resources that could be otherwise utilized by other CSI development would be required to make a decent Ux.

2) Experience has shown that non-casual users (you know who you are ) just tweak the files directly anyway.

3) CSI is now open source -- if anyone wants to tackle this, have at 'er

The monitoring functions (surfaces in, surfaces out, FX params) will now simply be 3 Reaper Actions:

CSI Toggle Show Input from Surfaces
CSI Toggle Show Output to Surfaces
CSI Toggle Show Params when FX inserted

Default CSI Config files for Siniarch

Hi Siniarch,

Great initiative.

Please find attached my FCB1010.mst and test zon file. I've commented in the mst that Malcolm Groves developed this original and helped me in understanding how to move forward. I have expanded the surface file to include all 100 switches [10 banks of 10]. I've tested them to ensure all switches show up in ReaConsole window. The test zon file is my playground whilst I try to understand how best to layout my workflow but it may help someone else to figure out how to get started [again taken from Malcolm G and amended]

Hope this helps someone else.

Cheers Yorky

Good call It was always a nightmare waiting to happen, right up there with stacks

One request Could you re-instate the bit of code that dumped out the VST name and parameters to a text file in /CSI/Zones/ZoneRawFXFiles, because that was really, really useful and avoided the endless cut'n'paste chore of the console window.

Good call right back at ya'

So it will be:

CSI Toggle Show Input from Surfaces
CSI Toggle Show Output to Surfaces
CSI Toggle Show Params when FX inserted
CSI Toggle Write Params to /CSI/Zones/ZoneRawFXFiles when FX inserted

Sounds good to me. Let the priority be on getting the fundamentals right. If someone wants to take it upon themselves to make a GUI for learn, let them. The more device and FX files people post, the less an end user will need to do. More important to get the fundamentals done.

Excellent! When the dust settles on the new version, I might spruce up the CSI C4 FX Configurator...

I've tried to create my first zone file for a plugin. Most of it's working but there are two parameters that don't change when I turn the relevant knob on the C4: ratio and release.

If I change the value on the plugin it's mirrored on the C4 but not the other way around.

Any thoughts gratefully received. Once I get one working I'm hoping to plough through a load of UAD plugins and map them to the C4. I can then share them with whoever wants them.

I've attached the zone file.

Thanks.

I understand, that the Behringer BCF 2000 and BCR 2000 use exactly the same Midi protocol and hence the config files should be interchangeable

See if this works (I don't have UAD) Also, try pushing the Rotary Press for Ratio, Attack and Release

Jubbly Some plugins that have parameters that are stepped, like the Ratio and Release here, won't respond to Encoder input (as opposed to Fader7Bit input) from CSI. As the C4 is all Encoders, it's better to feed the plugin discrete values aka 'stepped parameters' Check out the Wiki for what all the numbers and brackets mean.

Other plugins work fine with either.

It can be be a challenge sometimes to get the values right. Sometimes when the values are wrong, the push will step through them but the rotary won't. Also, notice how the push will cycle round and round but the Rotary stops at the ends.

Yup After 500 odd plugins you've pretty much seen it all (and in the case of the SSL bus compressor, several times)

Also, I was lucky enough to have input when Geoff was coding this stuff, so the C4/MCU is well taken care of.

Thanks for the heads up. Seems there were 3 items with the wrong image. As I was duplicating the previous post to add a new device, I missed updating the photos. I believe I've updated all the photos now. Thanks for the correction.

I agree that they should be on ReaPack, but I'm not sure ReaPack can handle different versions of the same controller code and have a place where installation files are added such as instructions, or layout of buttons. Perhaps I am wrong.
If I'm not, then I think a site such as the one I've made can still be useful.

Thank you MixMonkey.

Question for you. Someone wanted me to make a section for FX Zones. Are those independent of controllers. Or are they specific for each controller?

Could someone add these FX zones to another controller?

Not really, FX Zones depend on the layout and quirks of the controller. That doesn't stop you tearing them apart and cut'n'pasting bits or seeing how someone else approached a particular plugin though.

FX Zones that are set up for an 8 Rotary MCU style setup will probably travel quite well, but even then the encoder acceleration factors come into play, one surface may have 4 levels of acceleration, another 10.

This is what I thought. Notbsure a section devoted to plugins would be a good thing. Some people with a different controller may think the FX is mapped and ready to go for their controller only to find out its not.

Perhaps having a page that lists which FX have been mapped for which controllers. Then people who need to map a certain FX for their controller can download it for a different controller and go from there.

I'd be inclined to group things by surface. The hardware that you own will pretty much define the files you want access to, FX included.

mst's included. And a bunch of FX zones
Cragster, Thanks for this.

I was wondering which FX Zone files go with which Controller. I'm separating each controller into their own post on the website. And whichever FX zone is tied to each controller, it needs to be separated that way.

Let me know. Thanks.

One request Could you re-instate the bit of code that dumped out the VST name and parameters to a text file in /CSI/Zones/ZoneRawFXFiles, because that was really, really useful and avoided the endless cut'n'paste chore of the console window.
New build is up -- "CSI beta Test.zip".

Includes 4 Reaper Actions -- just type CSI in the Action search window, number 4 is the one to check.

Could you have a quick look at your convenience and see if the files are properly generated ?

Thanks
