Default Folder track related audio glitch

I've been trying to track down some maddeningly random little audio glitches for quite a while now. They are unrelated to size of project -- my machine is a fast dual core -- and sometimes don't happen at all. Finally, I was soloing a group of background vocals feeding a folder track: glitches. Removing the "bussing" (turning the folder track -- which was being fed three other tracks, but had no data of its own -- into a normal track) got rid of the glitches. Has anyone seen this behavior?

No one has seen this or has any ideas? It's always the same: small, random glitches in the audio, take the tracks out of the group (change the function of the containing track) and the glitches go away.
