I think he's probably having a break, he did put in an insane amount of time into this theme.

Aloha! Don't worry, it's not dead :¬)
As Ideosound said, I needed a break. For the last 2 weeks I've also been teaching workshops.
WT offered some code tweaks that I need to get my head around, 2.5 will follow once that happens as I'd rather release something more polished and without redundant code.
If anyone can help with that, it would be much appreciated, as I have a new website to build and release for my business (which actually pays my bills) too :¬)
Hope everyone is well!

Hi Bose,
Well, I worked very few on Walter, but I know a little about coding and I got some free time actually. So, if I can be of any help with research of redundant code by indicating where I think there are problems, you can count me in.

Hey benf,
The post from White Tie with the optimisation ideas (scaling / resolutions) in which to integrate is on the previous page ( direct link here).
Very kind of you to offer!

I started using Smooth6 a couple of weeks ago, and just wanted to say thanks.
One thing I don't understand are these instructions:
Quote:
How do I get coloured fader-caps layouts to automatically appear?
Use the SWS Autocolor/Icon/Layout extension; set the same shade of green used in Smooth for your drum tracks, then in the MCP Layout column of that screen, enter: 150%_A green (or whatever layout you want to use). Repeat for each colour/layout. Then under options, make sure "Auto-Track Coloring" and 'Enable Auto Track Layout" are enabled.
|
I can get it working if I use 150%_A_green, but it doesn't work when I use 'A' or 50%_A_green or 'Layout Default'. I can't colour the fader caps using the normal size of fader?

If 150% is working for you - why are you trying to use any other scale factor?

Still digging this theme thank you B0se!
Quick question... I'm on a 1440p monitor. All of the 100% and larger layouts work (albeit) unreadable.
None of the 75% and 50% layouts change anything when I apply them to track - particularly Mixer View.
Not being critical at all, is this just an artifact of my using a 1400p monitor or something not yet implemented ?
Thanks again!

150% works, as per the instructions, but it is not the layout I use; unfortunately 150% size is far too big for my monitor resolution. I use the 'Layout Default', which is 'A'.
Don't worry if the normal layout doesn't work with coloured faders - I just wanted to clarify that it doesn't, and that I wasn't doing something wrong.
EDIT: I just noticed that the SWS auto-colouring works works with the 'A Blue', 'A Green', 'A Indigo', (etc) layouts, which is good enough. I won't get the exact colour used with each track, but I can get close. Thanks.

I tested many themes for the Reaper here, but this is the most beautiful and professional I've ever seen.
I imagine how difficult it was to develop it... Congratulations!

Hi b0se,
This theme does **not** work on Windows 10.
Have a look for yourself: https://ibb.co/d26NG2p
All fonts perfectly installed. Theme files put both in C:\Users\vm\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\ColorThemes and C:\Program Files\REAPER (x64)\InstallData\ColorThemes. Theme adjuster files put both in C:\Users\vm\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\Scripts\Cockos and C:\Program Files\REAPER (x64)\InstallData\Scripts\Cockos. Smooth_6_Windows selected of course.
I've played around with b0se's options and settings - all to no avail.
On Macs, the theme works perfectly.
What a shame - the theme is beautiful!

I get those artefacts on a 1920x1080 monitor if I use any of the 150% layouts.
On Layout A, it's the best theme.

Definitely using this theme without those artifacts on Windows 10. Check the layout sizes you're using (use 100%), check the DPI scaling in Windows/Reaper, etc. I'm sure there's a bunch of us here using this on Windows without those problems.

Change HiDPI mode to Unaware in advanced UI/system settings and it should work as intended.
If you prefer not to use the "Unaware" mode, then choose either 75% or 50% options in the TCP/MCP layouts.

Just wanted to say I love this theme, it's most certainly my favorite out of all the ones I've tried!
I was wondering about theming for the faders in the routing/io window. I noticed that on my macBook's screen everything works as expected: I can see the custom theme faders in the routing/io window. But if plug-in my external display (2560x1440) and view REAPER on that window, I see the default theme's faders. I'm guessing this might have something to do with scaling for HiDPI screens?
As a disclaimer, I'm a new REAPER user, I only just decided that I want to jump ship. I've been exploring themes and customizing them, but I don't fully understand how everything works, so I probably don't know what I'm talking about. I'm also new to the HiDPI/"higher than 1980x1080 world", so I'm not yet familiar with all the ups and downs of it.

I really like what you've done with this theme. Would anyone be kind enough to tell me how I could go about accomplishing something like the attached where the Mixer track backgrounds use the track color with a specified opacity?

THE BEST THEME IF ONLY...
First time in years I'm tempted to switch theme from my usual theme!!
Only thing that I would really love is to keep aligned the controls in track view even when tracks are indented (track view). Now if I have many folders all controls are waiving.
Best would be to have a layout with fill controls alignemt + different controls priority (e.g. first TRIM, then PAN, then RCV/SND that are usually operated from Mixer View)
As an example I post here an image of Albert theme I tweaked that way to keep controls in the same position as much as possible. You can not Solo and Mute are always there, such as trim, phase and pan. Some control move only when the track is too narrow horizontally

Forgive me if this has already been answered, i think i may be searching for the wrong thing....
This theme looks great in W10 at 1080P, but the text in my toolbar buttons is way too small to clearly read. How can I edit the font size in toolbar buttons?
Thanks,

Also the transport bar could be improved. To me the font is very very small but when I choose the 150% layout it's too big and some font get scrambled (I did install all fonts correctly).
As a matter of fact I don't find the RECORD button at all! maybe my fault but where is it?
thanks

A question to the lot of you, is it difficult to change the "Record Arm" icons?
Currently in Smooth, when I select "Automatic record-arm when track selected (which I always have my tracks set to) I get these ugly "A" icons rather than the nice round ones:
I don't mind if there's no way to see from the icon whether its set to automatic or not, so is it easy for me to replace those icons with the ones from the "regular" mode?
@b0se:
Any chance you will change those in the future?
I know we already discussed the A in the monitor feature, I just find the A here equally jarring :P

Hi Bose,
Wonderful Theme!
Question: I tried my first attempt at modifying a theme ( I wanted to change the background of the gen_vol sliders so they are darker as I use the Dark Mode on Mac.
All went well uncompressing, replacing and re-zipping, renaming. But, the results look like version 4.0 theme. Its like the edited file is no longer valid.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Update I learnt more about theming, and discovered that I was leaving the uncompressed folder in the folder Unzip created, I needed to pull the theme file and resources folder out to the main directory of ColorThemes.

And Gianfini I also would like to have a more fixed alignment. Looks like a different approach is used in Walter compared to v5?
I'm also using 1080p, Win10. I just started trying this theme out, I'm not a very experienced theme tweaker, but I was able to get the transport fonts larger by editing the rtconfig.txt with these lines. Note that in the set trans....font lines the value in the first [#] corresponds to the Theme Tweaker Walter Font number. So you may need these assigned differently than as here:
Code:
set trans.status.margin os_type==1 * scale [0 4 0 -4 0] [150 0 0 -7 0]
set trans.bpm.tap.margin [0 0 0 5 0.5]
set trans.curtimesig.font scale{0}==1 [5] scale{0}==1.5 [6] [11]
set trans.bpm.tap.font scale{0}==1 [2] scale{0}==1.5 [6] [11]
set trans.bpm.edit.font scale{0}==1 [4] scale{0}==1.5 [6] [11]
set trans.sel.font scale{0}==1 [6] scale{0}==1.5 [8] [13]

easy. open the zip file of the theme (with winzip/winrar/whatever) and extract track_recarm_on.png file. Rename it into track_recarm_auto_on.png and put this new named file back in the zip, overwriting the equally named file.
Reload the theme
You will obtain still A when not armed but the nice red circle when armed, which is much better also to my eyes

I really, REALLY, wanted to use this theme. I have been watching since the beginning, & contributed at the beginning. However now it's gotten so complicated and full of all this advanced tweaking, I no longer even believe that I'll be able to use this theme. Damn... totally bummed.
Not even worth it anymore.

mpl sent me a LUA script template for making gradients. I made 8 lua files, each one corresponding to the colors used in the theme. Here's a video of the scripts in action:
https://imgur.com/PS3pFcJ
Feel free to download the zip and use them
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uz8...ew?usp=sharing
Love all the care that went into this theme, including the colors that were chosen.

perfect example, yes.
I already have a configuration that I'm totally ok using. Smooth would be the perfect theme, if it were just a little less involved in set up.
maybe I was just a tad stressed when I made the last comment.
