Default What is the shortcut to drag and select multiple items in REAPER 4???

Hi guys,

1. Yes I've searched, and I even read about posts that mentioned the new marquee features and such in REAPER 4, but I can't find ANYTHING on selecting more than one item. In v3.7? (the version I was using for a long time before just updating to v4.10), I could just hold control, left click and drag and it would highlight and whatever items that were in the area that I highlighted would be selected.

Now when I hold control, left click and drag, it changes the time selection. I have tried looking in mouse modifiers but can't find a "Select Items" to add to a shortcut key, and anytime I put something on the Control key and apply it, it just goes away.

What's going and why has this been changed? Or am I just losing my mind?

2. When I select two items on adjacent tracks (it's just the same .wav file on two tracks, because I have bass copied on two tracks and have one as the lows and the other as the highs), copy, and try to paste, it pastes them like five minutes later in the song, NOT where I click. What's up with this?

Thanks,

Trevor

I'm used to using the control key because my right click is two fingers and click, is there a way to change it to be control key + mouse click? Also, I added a second point if you don't mind answering that as well.

Hey sorry, I guess you are talking to me? I deleted because I'm on Windows and I wasn't completely sure about Mac. Go to prefs>editing behavior>mouse modifiers to alter mouse actions.

Not so sure about the copy issue.

Hey Robokid,

there was a (unwise imho) decision made to disable this option
by default in v4, which uses ctrl+click as a mouse modifier instead
as a standard osx right click function. Even though it's possible to
use ctrl as a modifier this way, this comes in as an inconvenient
surprise to osx users.

Go to Preferences > Editing behavior > Mouse, and enable the
"Control+left click emulates right-click."

Perfect, thank you. Any suggestions on the copy+paste issue I mentioned?

Sorry, didn't catch that one.

Yes, it takes time selection into account. Again a new v4 function
mapped to the default cmd+c command.

Either cancel the time selection (ESC), or remap cmd+c to action
"Edit: copy items/tracks/envelope points ..., ignoring time selection".

Yes, very late...10 years later... I still didn't find anyway to select more than one item without using the mouse. Did you find?

There are some 'select item' Actions available in SWS Extensions and ReaPack which can be assigned to keyboard shortcuts.
As example:
  • SWS: Select previous item, keeping current selection (across tracks)
  • SWS: Select next item, keeping current selection (across tracks)
  • SWS: Select previous item (across tracks)
  • SWS: Select next item (across tracks
  • ...
