ARA2: Randomly losing edits after Item Manipulations and Undos
Hi all, I'm SO excited about ARA2 and dove right in with Melodyne.
Is anyone else experience loss of edits after simple item manipulations (trim/copy/paste) and/or Undos?
I've tried EVERYTHING to replicate the exact behaviour, but this is as specific as I could pare it down. After editing an entire chorus of vocals (45mins of effort) and copy/pasting it to the second chorus section, all the edits were lost in both the original and copy. I may have Undo'd the copy/paste at some point during this process.
Any other similar experiences? I'll try everything to gather as much detail as possible, but I'm absolutely scared to death of committing to this workflow if edits will randomly disappear

1. I transpose everything up a bunch. All good!
2. I change one of the takes. Melodyne catches it, all good!
3. I hit undo, which should undo Change Take and revert back to the previous take (which it doesn't). Melodyne instead completely resets all edits!

Do you have "save minimal undo states" enabled?

Melodyne's undo state can be very large (100 MB or more).
With "minimal undo states" disabled, the Melodyne undo state is saved along with the REAPER undo state, so that everything stays in sync. But if the Melodyne state is very large, like with a lot of analyzed media and edits, this causes a noticeable slowdown after every edit as Melodyne transmits its state data to REAPER.
With "minimal undo states" enabled, the Melodyne undo state is not saved along with the project. You can still undo Melodyne edits by using the undo action built into the plugin, but if you undo a REAPER edit that makes the project and the plugin out of sync, Melodyne doesn't know what to do and resets the analysis.
Unfortunately, you need to choose one or the other. Celemony has been talking about some improvements to their undo system that would help, but I don't know how far along they are.
For now, all I can say is, save your project often!

Thanks for explaining this so thoroughly Schwa, it definitely helps decide which setting of "minimal undo states" to go with depending on the situation. I hope they can improve this on their end

I'm getting this even with minimal undo states disabled, as per your post schwa. Is there something else I'm not setting correctly?
