Default Programming F1 to F8 on a Frontier Alphatrack problem

I'm trying to programme the F buttons on an Alphatrack, but these instructions below don't relate to the actual menus in Reaper as in preferences its Keyboard/Multitouch not Keyboard/Control with different pop-up windows.
Is there a workaround. Although midi is coming out of the Alphatrack, Reaper does not seem to access it in actions.

Oddly, Reaper is now responding to touch on the Alphatrack. I have been messing about with this for sometime now yet soon after posting this, the bloody thing works!
