Default Convert sheet music to midi

Anybody know a good way to convert pdf files or image files of sheet music, to midi?

I'm hoping there is a good, free way, but I'm open to any suggestions.

You might also try PDFtoMusicPro which in the trial version is restricted to the first page of an PDF.
(It's the same download/version. The difference is just being registrated or not)

I have used the trial of PDFtoMusicPro and found it much more accurate than anything else out there. In my case, I wanted to convert a couple of my leadsheets, created in Lilypond, to MusicXML for use in Sibelius or Finale (I forget which). There is one big caveat however. From the website: "Because it only processes PDF files that have been exported from a score editor software, PDFtoMusic Pro offers a unique reliability and outstanding results. Therefore, scanned sheet music cannot be managed by PDFtoMusic Pro."

not a whole lot, just something basic. I'd be satisfied with a free trial version, but i kind of don't much like having stuff like that on my pc, and would like something like that, in case i ever need it in the future.

Actually, wouldn't mind a sort of band in the box typed thing, but more basic I guess. Wishful thinking i know, but it would be cool.

I'm actually surprised that this technology isn't better. Sheet music is generally sort of computer generated, not hand written, well defined lines in black and white and has a relatively limited number of characters. I mean, you'd expect that voice recognition would be much much harder. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

Maybe one of the reasons is that in speech, the computer can predict what words are most likely to follow other ones, and maybe this technology can't really do that.

I know this thread is old, but I just wanted to provide another option in case anyone looks at this. Scanscore is free (there are paid upgrades, but I got a coupon for it) and lets you scan in or convert music to MIDI and XML.https://scan-score.com/en

Edit: added link
