It looks great, really nice work. It's obvious you put a lot of effort into this.
Really would like a laptop version, but not reduced, rather make it as a different layout - when on a laptop, I use themes which can have fx rack in mixer in sidebar, or as WT Brawn bespoke has (in the middle). This way I can still turn off/on effects quickly when performing live and I need to have the mixer docked.
But, the theme itself is great, for what most of the folks will want to use it - studio work.

I like it. Maybe at the next version you can imply smaller buttons at the tcp and scale down the mpc effects part, is too big.

OK yes I thought it was something like that..
The only solution could be to move the Mute/Solo/Rec buttons to the right of track Labels, maybe. But I understand that it would change the theme

I found this nice behavior in the Alter Ego v4.10 theme by Lambda
What do you think about it?

Alter Ego alignment is better. Would be great the same behavior for Reaborn 2, IMHO.

So, +1...

I think the way to fix/change this alignment behavior is to think right to left when coding the TCP in Walter.

Starting with your right most element everything needs to anchor statically on the right. In a theme I'm working on I'm trying to address this.

You can see it below. I will attempt to emulate this in ReaBorn 2.

Look at page 35 of the manual. Its is very easy if you just want to align all controls

Code:
tcp_folderindent 13
set tcp.margin +:folderdepth:1 [-13 0 0 0]
set tcp.margin +:maxfolderdepth:1 [13 0 0 0]

Strange... when I add this lines in rtconfig file, just 1 pixel movement is happen, and nothing more. There must be something missing for making the alignment right with Reaborn 2.
So, the mystery is still here...

Ahhh, sorry, ahahahahaha! I misunderstood. I though to some reason that you told me about the white line to the left of the Mute/Solo/Rec buttons.
Sorry

Yeah, this code helps to align the tcp controls.
Thanks Jed!

Default Another TCP approach

As usual I got here too late. The alignment issues is solved.
I worked up this TCP for ReaBorn2, trying to remain in the spirit of what Nick created.

I put some meters in there just because. Of course a simple ; will fix that for those who have no need.

A couple of pics. The walter code follows.

Slainte

;
Layout "TCP-ShrinkWrap"
;
clear tcp.*

Really nice job Nick, the new toolbar buttons are really appreciated, I know how much work is involved with those.

Really missing some meters in the TCP tho... or maybe.. I'm missing something?

Nice work Nick - really smooth man and so well thought out.

Can't help but nitpick one thing (apart from alignment issues above...) the time signature display on the transport panel is not centralized like the BPM.

...I feel bad for even mentioning it - such a nice piece of work all round.

All tcp tracks have meters, but they become invisible if you don't expand your maximum width.

Maybe a conditioned code could also help with this default TCP tracks state. Is this, possible?

  • layer for external transport panel
  • additional toolbar icons
  • variations of animated knobs
I,d be really interested in a more compact compact mcp for use on my laptop.

The width of the compact layout is great giving me 19 channels on a 1440 x 900 res laptop but I can't see enough of the fx panel to be usable.

Hear is a mock up of a compact compact mcp layout that for me would make this theme more laptop friendly

I would also be interested in a slightly less embellished fancy pan knob , don't get me wrong I really like the ones you've done but for me there a little to eye catching.

I'd also like dual pan versions of layouts, as I'm using that method of panning myself...

The pan & width controls will be auto-switchable in the next update. No more dualpan layouts in the future.

Can I ask if we can get MCP layout that has volume knob (just vertical) like TCP "fancy slider" so fader has a trail behind it ?
Thank you for this awesome theme and your hard work!

My two cents after fiddling for a while with this newborn

1) The compact MCP layout is exactly right = top notch = perfect for me. Awesome!!!

2) Is it possible to have a light frame around the tcp and mcp instead of color brightening when a track is selected (Unempty Minima addiction... but this feature is SO effective)

3) Some fonts are too big for my taste, but this can easily be adjusted in the preferences. Same for arrange panel and MIDI editor colours a bit too bright - but again this can be tweaked in prefs, so no problem...

4) I'd much prefer track name at left of mute, solo etc. buttons in tcp... when I'm collapsing tcp width, track name visibility is paramount in my habits...

5) Not seeing meters in tcp (only mastertrack has them), no matter how wide or tall I drag the tcp panel. Am I missing something? The rightmost vertical line seems perfect for a thin meter, but it doesn't seem to be it.

6) When a track is in dual pan mode, two identical knobs should show both in tcp and mcp (especially in compact mcp mode).

Overall it's a beauty.

Thanks a lot,
Mario

the track meter seems not to be working on this theme?

I cannot reduce the mixer panel very much which only leaves a small track screen. This is bothersome.

Thank you for this awesome theme and your hard work!
I have tried it. The fader becomes very blurry.

If you don't have enough monitor 'real estate'... I suggest you use one of the other themes.

Complaining about a theme because 'your' monitor is too small just doesn't make any sense.

It's probably less money to buy a new monitor on the user end then it is for Nick's time to make a theme for each persons needs.

+1 Exactly the same here... No meters, no matter what TCP layout I use, or the size I stretch it to.

I DID see a meter ONE time but as soon as I changed layout... gone again.

My Res. is 1920x1200.

Same here, no meters in TCP on MacBook 10.5.8 Intel.

Will test on big machine at studio tomorrow.

I'm seeing now horizontal meters in tcp using "Fancy Sliders" layout, but they are in second or third row and they seem to come and go erratically as I switch layouts...

EDIT: I am no WALTER expert, but looking at the tcp layouts I see not all have clear tcp directive so they could vary depending on what layout is chosen before them?

This layout does not have any meter. Try another layout, with "fancy sliders" for example.

P.S. Read please OP till the end (the text below screenshots)
