audio fx/plugins on midi item
hi all,
simple question - is it possible to use audio fx plugins like f.e. a reverb/delay/chorus/whatever on a midi item? because here the plugin opens, but it doesn't seem to receive any signal...

Only if you have an instrument plugin before it (otherwise the audio effect wouldn't have audio to work with...).

ok - cool. but i've loaded a synth on the midi item previously - and i could not play it via midi, plus reaper wasn't playing it when pressing play... so how to proceed on that? what am i missing?
edit:
ok - now reaper plays the instrument on pla - but i can't play it via my midi keyboard...?

Try something simple, then build on it.
To get to understand how it works, try inserting ReaSynth in the track FX chain . Press Play - you should hear the music. You can now place any reverb etc in FX chain after the synth.
Once you've got that working, try experimenting with other synths.

like i said in the above post - it works now, but i can't play the synth via midi. it will play back in reaper when playing reaper, but i cannot play it via my midi keyboard.
is there a way i can pass the midi information directly to the plugin on the midi item?

nevermind - i realized that i can apply insert fx to the midi item on track level, then render it to a new take - which was what i wanted to achieve. so it essentially does what i want - just in another way.

Don't insert the synth into the MIDI item as an item FX, but rather into the track as a track FX. Then place your possible audio VSTs after that synth in the same track FX chain.

edit: seems you did that already...
